Lili Marlene

FUNCTION: Decepticon Medic

Lili Marlene was originally a Deception Seeker named Morningstar. Only slightly younger than Kup, the Decepticons had already begun to look down on her as her technology became outdated. During Earth Year 1942, she was shot down by Autobot forces over the planet Earth. The other Decepticons performed only a cursory search before abandoning her for lost. Badly damaged, she crashed into the snowy plains of Russia at the forefront of the advancing German army.

She was found by a German pilot named Franz Meckler. Meckler was a talented mechanic but even he could not understand Lili's far more advanced circuitry. Instead, he rebuilt her into the machine he knew best...the Messerschmitt 109 E.

Renamed "Lili Marlene" after the girl in a popular song, Franz Meckler and his Decepticon ally became the terror of the Russian skies. Lili's expert aim compensated for the fact that Franz, for all his mechanical talent, was a miserable shot. In return, Franz kept Lili fueled, and in fine flying form.

The rest of Meckler's unit did not understand his devotion to his "machine," but Franz merely smiled knowingly and said nothing.

Unfortunately, Lili's best efforts were not enough to protect Meckler from the dangers of war. Meckler was killed in 1945, leaving Lili alone in the world.

Despondent, she wandered the earth, scavenging for energy, until she received notice in the 1980's of Megatron's awakening and returned to the Decepticon side.

Lili, however, was forever changed by her relationship with Franz. Although still a Decepticon, Lili sympathizes with human beings. This attitude led Megatron to restrict Lili to medical duties only. It was no great loss, as Lili's ME-109 form was hopelessly outdated by the standards of Cybertronian and modern human technology. Nevertheless, Lili's loyalty to Meckler's memory causes her to refuse to change her vehicle form.

The other Decepticons have nothing but scorn for Lili--unless they are in need of repair. Lili knows that her medical talent is the only thing keeping her alive, and makes full use of her one advantage to protect herself.

Lili is often sad and keeps herself withdrawn from the other Decepticons, who do not understand her sorrow for a human. Franz's death seems to have destroyed her taste for war. Lili is a tragic figure, still mourning for Franz, and her aversion to combat and emotional tendencies cause the other Decepticons to hold her in contempt.

In vehicle mode, Lili is equipped with six forward-firing machine guns. She also carries a Cybertronian-style laser pistol.

ABILITIES: Lili Marlene is one of the few Decepticon medics. Although the other Decepticons look down at her, they must admit that they can't repair themselves. Lili's knowledge as a medic represents her only real use to the Decepticon cause. In her long years of combat, Lili has a great deal of military experience, but she rarely opens her mouth to comment on a tactic or situation because she knows the other Decepticons won't listen to her. She has two cannons mounted on each shoulder, and is a crack shot and expert sniper with her laser handgun and laser sniper rifle.

WEAKNESSES: Lili Marlene is limited by her aircraft form which she refuses to update into something more practical. She is left in the med lab or performing administrative duties while the other Decepticons go maurauding. Only her abilities as a medic keep her alive. According to Decepticon philosophy, one of Lili's greatest weaknesses is the fact that she is one of the few Decepticons who knows what it means to love.
