Ritterkreuz

FUNCTION: Stealth Assassin

"Stop your ridiculous infighting; the Quintessons are the real enemy."

"Allegiance" is really the wrong word to use about Ritterkreuz. He's an anti-authoritarian lone wolf who refuses to take orders from anyone. He has no interest in the Autobot/Decepticon wars; his whole purpose in life is hunting down and exterminating the Quintessons. He wears the Decepticon logo only as a matter of convenience, and because the Quintessons built him as military hardware.

Ritterkreuz is good and he knows it. He considers mercenary work "beneath him" and will only perform it if he is desperate for something he cannot obtain any other way (for example, repairs). He trusts no one and the feeling is mutual; even Galvatron would think twice about dealing with someone as ruthless and dangerous as Ritterkreuz.

Ritterkreuz was built by the Quintessons in the last stages of their war with the Cybertronians in the hopes that he might destroy the robot leaders. For a while, Ritterkreuz performed this function with deadly efficiency. No one is sure, save Ritterkreuz himself, what caused him to turn on his Quintesson masters and make them the targets of his wrath. While almost everyone has heard of Ritterkreuz, only a handful of individuals have ever actually seen him. Two who have are Kup and Stormrave.

Stormrave owes Ritterkreuz for saving her from the Quintessons after she fled her dead homeworld. She would describe Ritterkreuz as an arrogant but somehow charming individual, with a propensity to show off that seems to mask a deeper loneliness. She would not describe him as evil, but then again, she was never his targets--those who are rarely live long enough to describe him as anything.

ABILITIES: Ritterkreuz represents the pinnacle of Quintesson technology. He is all but invisible to detection units. He could walk right into Autobot City completely undetected unless someone was purposely looking for him. His wings are made of a material impenetrable to most lasers and act as a shield. He is a crack shot and his weapon of choice is a Quintesson-built MAO (Magnetic Amplification Output) cannon known as the Azrael--a weapon of deadly force and accuracy.

Ritter's stealth cloaking results from the fact that, in addition to conventional sound muffling, light refraction, and absorption of radar and sonar, Ritter is actually capable of shifting his body into a parallel dimension very close to the regular one. His usual shift is about 50% in, 50% out, allowing conventional stealth cloaking to make up the difference. In theory, he could shift himself entirely into the other dimension, but the more of his mass he shifts, the less likely he is to be able to find his way back... This technology, all but unknown, remains a mystery because the Quintessons who invented it met a sudden and violent end...

WEAKNESSES: Ritterkreuz has no structural deficiencies and his skill as a soldier is beyond compare. However, his greatest downfall lies in the fact that he has no true friends and precious few allies. What could drive an individual to spend countless eons hunting down the Quintessons? Stormrave isn't sure she wants to know what's going on inside Ritterkreuz's mind.

RITTERKREUZ' THEME SONG: "All Friends and Kingdom Come" by Monster Magnet

CREATING RITTERKREUZ: Loosely based on my personal character Wagner, Ritter soon took on a life of his own rather than simply being a Decepticon version of Wagner. Ritter is almost emotionless, and "normal" Cybertronian life and emotions mystify him.
