Interlude

During a quiet moment in the underground base, Megatron and Soundwave have a little discussion about Tempest…

Megatron heads for the exit, then stops. An someowhat amused expression appearing on his face. "Soundwave, Tempest told me you talked with her..."

Soundwave replies a little cryptically, "I speak with Tempest fairly often." (he wouldn't be mildly teasing his leader, would he?)

Megatron chuckles. "Sure! How stupid of me not to determine the specific topic closer... You talked with her about mates."

Striker walks in and groans when he sees Megatron and Soundwave.

Soundwave is about to reply, and then does not, recalling decorum, when Striker joins them.

Megatron glances at Striker. "This is a private conversation, Striker, leave!"

Soundwave intervenes, "Is there a problem outside?"

Striker looks to Megatron, "No, I was just coming in to be alone and I didn't know you were in here. I'll leave now."

Striker heads back out.

Soundwave waits until Striker is out of earshot, and then resumes, "The topic did arise, this is true."

Megatron says, "And you are worried for some reason..."

Megatron still has this slightly amused expression.

You say, "Not worried. Merely interested. You are ... fond of her, then?"

Megatron chuckles. "Soundwave, you know me well. There had been quite a lot of females in my life. And I admit there were even times when nearly every cycle another shared my bed... I never denied what happened... Why should I?" He looks Soundwave straight into the optics. "So if I have an encounter with Tempest or planned one, I had no reason to deny it, correct?"

Soundwave says, "I would think not. And yet I feel it is appropriate to clarify my observations of her nature, as I have mentioned to her my observations of yours.""

Megatron smiles softly. "Soundwave, there is nothing going on between me and Tempest... there is no sexual attraction. Yes, I like her very much..." He pauses. "She is something I don't have much of - she is a friend, a very dear one."

Soundwave looks thoughtful. "She on the other hand seems to have some particular affections for you. Only she does not quite realize it, and the very thought seems to cause her confusion. So I would ask that you tread carefully with her."

Megatron says, "Don't worry, I will. However, I think the one she really has deeper affections for is a member of her former crew - Harrier. And if there is a chance that his laser core still exists, I want it to be found and brought him back to her."

Megatron says, "Though that would even mean more trouble for poor Striker..."

Soundwave tilts his head questioningly. "Problems with Striker?"

Megatron laughs. "Haven't you realized that he has a crush on Tempest?"

Soundwave seems faintly surprised. "I have not. But that is a problem, then. For him."

Soundwave say, "However, from the story Tempest told me, I do not think there is anything left to recover of Harrier."

Megatron says, "I wish for her that your thought is wrong."

Soundwave inclines his head. "If she did not see the kill, there is perhaps still some chance."

Soundwave says, "If that is all for the moment, Commander, I should like to see to Nicole and evaluate how she is settling in."

Megatron nods. "She would deserve to get him back." He suddenly turns serious. "Loneliness isn't something someone should bear when it it is not necessary.”

Megatron slowly heads for the door.

Soundwave regards Megatron thoughtfully again. There are more questions he could ask at this point, but where does interest end and intrusion of privacy begin? He lets it go for now.
