During the Beast Wars, Stormrave was not incarnated as either Maximal or Predacon. Her friends feared that her spark was lost forever, merged in the Matrix.
Then the era of Beast Machines dawned...and the Maximals found themselves facing a fearsome red flying Vehicon...a female designated as a Vehicon Captain. The Captain was designed as a drone, second-in-command to Jetstorm, with no active intelligence. Rather, she was programmed with a latent program that would make her sentient if it was ever activated. Megatron's intent was that the program would only be activated if something were to happen to Jetstorm. In the meantime, the Vehicon Captain served as a relay between Jetstorm and the flying Vehicon drones.
But to give the flying Vehicon Captain the capability of intelligent thought, Megatron had to give it a spark...and the spark he gave it was a willful one.
Stormrave's.
Both Megatron and the Maximals remain unsure what caused Stormrave's spark to awaken. Vehicon Stormrave's first strong emotion was a refusal to blindly obey Megatron's orders. Questioning Megatron's actions and thinking for herself, she soon found herself under attack from her former comrades and was driven to the Maximals, where she found several vaguely familiar faces who welcomed her...
Stormrave often experiences flashbacks to her old life as Autobot Sky Patrol Commander. Like Braddore and Blancwulf, her memories are foggy. Furthermore, Stormrave suffers the effects of her Vehicon programming kicking in from time to time. When this occurs, Stormrave reverts to her primary directive: Seek and destroy all Maximals. At these times, Stormrave is a danger to her comrades. As in her prior life, she feels torn between two sides. She rejects Megatron's beliefs, but because she is fully machine, she is uneasy and believes herself unwelcome in the ranks of the Maximals.
Vehicon Stormrave is far more ruthless and impulsive than her previous incarnation. Whether this is a result of her Vehicon programming or a surrender to her original Decepticon nature is a matter of debate. Either way, Vehicon Stormrave takes great delight in slagging her enemies and is very likely to shoot first and ask questions later. She retains her vast tactical knowledge, but in this incarnation, has been known to ignore logical thought in favour of adrenaline, speed and firepower. Where the old Stormrave was cool and distant towards strangers, Vehicon Stormrave is actively aggressive, seemingly looking for a fight. She is very much a show-off, but unfortunately for her targets, has the ability and skill necessary to put her money where her mouth is. She is a risk-taker who delights in taunting fate. In quieter moments, her former introspective nature breaks through, and she feels guilty for her actions and her own nature.
Vehicon Stormrave is armed with two Seeker-style arm cannons and also carries a laser pistol and an energon dagger. Unlike the Maximals, she has no qualms with heavy weaponry. Her rat-tail can detach from the base of her head and become an electric whip.
