We are still here!
Here's some pictures from June and a bit of news I sent via email to Lyra: We had switched the girls to Walmart soy to try and save money. They ate it during the day fairly well, but at the before-bedtime- and-after-bath- feeding, Joni just flipped out. I usually never have trouble feeding her and putting her down. She fought me and kept pushing the bottle away and cried her head off. I finally got her to go to sleep after eating 1 1/2 ounces. That was at 9:45PM.

I fed Taylor at 3:00AM and put her back to bed. Then I went to get Joni up who had been chirping for a little while. She was sleepy when I changed her diaper and calm when I started feeding her. (That's usually how it is. I have no problems feeding her at night, or getting her to go back to sleep.)

As soon as she tasted the formula it was back to kicking and screaming and squirming and crying and fighting me off. I had to take her back down stairs so she wouldn't get Taylor all upset and wide awake.

I got her calm and laid her in the bassinet. I thought she was going to go to sleep so I prepared a bed for myself down there. Then she started screaming again. I put her in the swing and she finally fell asleep. I thought, well, maybe she isn't hungry. But she hadn't eaten since 10:00PM. She had to have been. Joe said to wait until she woke up again and try again.

She woke up at 4:15 screaming and I heated up the bottle again. It did NOT work. She was VERY upset. I'm digging around in the cupboard for the "ready to eat" sample bottles of the soy brand we usually buy. I heated that up, but she cried just as hard.

So Joe got out of bed and came downstairs to watch her while I ran down to Walmart to buy another canister of Isomil. (and FRESH DONUTS, DAMN IT!) As soon as I put the bottle in her mouth and she calmed down enough to taste it, she started drinking it and became quiet.

"SEE? It IS the formula!"

"Hmmph! She'd probably eat ANYTHING now; she must be starving!" Joe retorts!

So I put Joni back to sleep. Joe stays up and takes his shower to get ready for work, (very early!), and I collapse on the bed for a whole HALF HOUR! Then it was Taylor's turn...

Then I had to get my shower to get ready to tutor a colleague's son for the second week. (Going very well, by the way).

We haven't decided about Taylor yet. She eats it without complaint, but she seems to need more of it than the other brand. It must not be as filling somehow.

THE END. I'm tired. I would kill to be able to go to bed at 9:00PM and sleep until NOON. Gotta go! JONI HAS SPOKEN!!

June pictures:

This month there are more of Joni than of Taylor.

We stayed a couple days at Lyra's house where the girls took their first "Kitchen Sink Baths".

Joni is reserving judgement...

....But Taylor loves hers!

Joni is one who knows what she wants.

...and know how to get it too!

There, that's better, thanks!

I don't smile just because you say "Smile!"

That is it for this month!
