Leshrac and the Cursed Sword
Long ago in the land of
Estark, there was a man named Leshrac, he was the Baron of Clynia. His brother Mordifin,
King of Estark, sends him out one day to find the Legendary Runic Sword of Adamante.
Mordifin does not reveal the reasons he needs this accursed blade. Leshrac has his doubts
about his brothers intentions for the use of the sword, but he ventures out on this
fools quest.
He sets out one morning for the mystic lands of Cainin, where the
shadows lie, in search of the blade. As he leaves, his daughter Kayla says her good-byes,
and he feels a slip of parchment in his front pocket afterwards. He decides to read it
later. After riding for a while out of the city he feels he is being followed.
He finally arrives at the Temple of Cainin, and sees a large
archway with rusted gates. He raises the rusted gates with much difficulty and goes into
the temple. He goes through many corridors and finds a large room that has a vacant
pedestal. He investigates the area and notices the glint of a sword down deep in a rift of
the floor. He ties his rope down to the pedestal and goes into the rift.
As he picks up the heavy sword he hears a metallic scraping sound
emanating from where he entered. He reaches the top and scrambles to get out, hears
someone running towards him, and then he puts the sword onto floor to climb out. He crawls
forward and is kicked in the face by an attacker. Leshrac is flipped on his back from the
force of the kick. His legs fall into the rift; he spreads his arms and grasps out to keep
from falling. He grabs the attackers leg and pulls so that he falls. Leshrac stands
up to meet four more attackers coming at him, they are in the colors of Mordifins
guard.
Leshrac looks for something to fight with, and spots the sword,
momentarily forgotten, and picks it up. Instantly he loses control. He is overwhelmed by
the shear power of the weapon he wields. He hears yelling and screaming, then realizes
that he is the one in pain. He sees three guards fall before blacking out.
"What in the world has happened to me?" Leshrac looks
and finds that he is lying in the midst of five dead guards. His stomach is cold.
When leaving the temple he remembers the parchment. He opens it
and reads, "Father, Mordifin is preparing for an assault. You will be attacked after
you retrieve the sword. Good luck. Kayla"
"Attack me will you!" he screams at the sky, "Not
if I bring the fight to you first!" The Runic Sword of Adamante has changed Leshrac
in ways he can not even begin to comprehend.
