Notes taken from a phone call with Kevin" Camera" Gameson From Wakefield ,who drank the bar dry of his favourite "Hooche" that very night .Yes the
one looking not unlike the new Keyboard player ,Yes the same one who
missed" Fish" telephoning him twice on his birthday
Sensational, spontaneous, relaxed, playful were some of Kev's quotes.
He described the gig as "As good as it gets" and concluded our call
with "I've seen a lot of shows and NONE of them stood up to what I saw
last night,BLOODY RIGHT BAND,AND I MEAN IT". He had front row seats which probably helped a bit but
other dedicated followers elsewhere in the audience were mightily
impressed with what they saw. There is a definite bond within the
group - there is a lot more eye contact between members on stage and a
lot more playing around with the songs......During
Spirit of the Radio, Nidge turned tothe singer, made a gesture and
he then sang 2 or 3 verses of spirit in the sky accompanied by Nidge
on guitar. Sensational stuff!
Nidge was sweating like a pig throughout The singer was giving it
plenty of spiel between songs - he mentioned how much they had
enjoyed Cobbies and said "It must feel like you've been with us for years, thanks
for all their support". Black Dog was accompanied with classic Rampent poodle
style Plant posing and preening - great stuff to watch. Fire & Water was enhanced by plenty of strutting and stomping .
This show is far superior to the stuff they did Last year. They really
mean business this time.In the Cobbies lobby afterwards, Camera Kev
bumped in Nidge and got the usual friendly handshake. People have
come from Wakefield , Rotherham ,Leeds and Hemsworth to see this
band. Some are seeing all nights of the tour.
Boardman's Tales From The Tapes
Was this their best? The debate rages! Personally I think it depends
on where you are in the auditorium and I know Camera Kev agrees with
this too. The tape is good and clear, slightly bassy with a slightly
dull top. On first listening to this I was slightly disappointed
given all the rave reviews, however, there is no doubt that onstage,
the band are having a great time.
Nidge is obvious in a relaxed and playful mood "We'll Jim-bob have
we been here before?" "What a bunch of silly people" etc. Nigel is
introduced as the guy who "really wants to do the roadying for
Morrisey!". A number of the songs contain slight errors (The Keyboard
player fluffs the Intro to Spirit of the Radio) but this is
compensated for with two excellent blues interludes, one in an
extended Whole Lotta Love and one during Boys are back in Town.
(I can't identify the songs - any suggestions?).Sunshine of your love
is the usual bring the house down climax.
Nidge ends the main body of the show with "Thanks it's been a great
night, never stop smiling - it's only entertainment!" and returns to
thank the crowd for their support over the years "We've seen you guys
in the womb!". Obviously this tape deserves further listening.
Letter from Nidge

Ed:(Even though Rumours around Liverpool have suggested Robbie Fowler
as a problem with it ,And the Fact that Boardman and Fowler often
enjoy an holiday pint together and the nature of the Snowblind track
the band named themselves after is mere coinsidental,I say Clear off Andy Gray, Alan Hansen,Mark Lawrence & Des Lynam it's just the wheels of the cogs of the football rumour mill once again)
Snowblind are recommended by the hand of Brother-In-Law Pete
