NOTTINGHAM FOREST Fans Would Love Craig Boardman To Return To
The City Ground
By Dave Lee Roth
Forest fans want Craig Boardman back at The City Ground.
Despite the Yorkshire man’s acrimonious departure eight
season's ago, and the success of his replacement Steve Chettle
, the news that David Platt is prepared to offer his
countryman a second chance at Highbury has been
welcomed by Pork -farm chomping regulars.
Boardman quickly run into familiar problems at Peterborough
and was suspended from the third division giants after
failing to turn up for training on three successive days and more recently injury at a string of lower league clubs
. But
with Platt stating publicly earlier this week that he is ready
offer a helping hand to the former Des Walker protégé, it has sparked
excited rumours that he would take the once troubled 29-year-old
back to the Midlands.
The majority of fans - including those who support Boardman-
still retain reservations about the man known less than
affectionately around The City Ground as 'Jung Ann'. But while they
are not quite ready to forgive and forget, they would back
their manager's judgement if he decided to re-sign the man
who appeared in 82 appearances for the Forest reserves
following his move from ameteur football in
February 1987.
Phil Alexander from Ossett Town and Kerrang told Soccer69:
"Possibly the only way to work the situation would be to put
Boardman on a probationary period. A kind of 'one sulk, and
you’re off' deal. His adviser/father would have to be
sorted out as well. But Platt, more than anyone, knows
just how much more there is left in Boardie. Remember, he is not
the finished article yet. Perhaps he also senses that there is
a good deal to be done here.,
.
"In the winning season of 1997-98 Brook of Ossett Town declared
that his dream defensive partnership would be the turbo-charged
pairing of Boardie and Jaap Stam with Sol Campbell playing
just behind them as a sweeper. We have one third of that equation right
now. Who's to say that Forest won't follow his ideal scenario
through?
"I had the good fortune to meet Boardie in Peterborough prior to his
departure from City Ground in 1993 and I found him to be funny and
charming. He was surrounded by his mates with whom he
seemed to feel genuinely comfortable. He was very open
throughout the interview and quite shy, rather than arrogant.
Had Boardman stayed at Forest he might have developed
into the greatest defenders on the planet. His return may put
him back on track. The question is whether he's wasted too
much time and whether the Forest door is now closed.”
HAVE YOUR SAY…
Should Forest re-sign Boardman? Is he worth the risk after his
recent bad behaviour in both England and mexico? How much would
you pay for him now? Is Wenger the man to get the best out of
him? Is he the only man who understands him? E-mail your views

Craig Boardman stars in his acting debut along with such stars as Les Dennis (Alan Shearer), Bradley Walsh,(Kenny Dalglish) Paul Bradley (Kevin Keegan)and Ice-T (John Barnes) in an adapation of the peter beardsley story
Boardman plays the
Newcastle-born Beardsley, a championship winner with Liverpool and capped over 50 times for England,Who is now in his mid-30s but the engine is still
running as powerfully as ever. Boardman shows how he covers vast tracts of the field yet he is not all huff and puff, he is about inspiration, drawing the best out of his
team-mates and knowing exactly what to do when the going gets tough.
Boardman convincingley potrays Beardsley as the sort of player who creates as many goals as he scores and his speed of thought and ability to find space mark him out as a very
special player indeed. The film begins showing how Boardman (Beardsley) started his career with Carlisle after being spotted playing for the famous Wallsend Boys' Club and inspite of 100
appearances he decided to chance his arm with the Vancouver White Caps, bought by them for £275,000. Boardman gets across how he made enough of an impact for word to
get back to Manchester United who brought him home for £300,000 in 1982 but he made just one Football league Cup appearance for them before a
first spell at Newcastle
Boardman shows nerves when signing ,but for their outlay of £150,000 Newcastle had over 150 games from Boardman( Beardsley) as he finally made his mark and four years later - in July 1987 Liverpool
paid £1,900,000 and he spent four glorious winning seasons at Anfield before making the short trip across Liverpool to Everton in 1991 - signed for
£1m.
Inspite of his age, Newcastle United manager Les Dennis (Kevin Keegan) regarded Boardman (Beardsley) as such a prized capture that he was willing to part with
£1,500,000 to bring him back to St James' Park. Another tremedous spell with the club of his birth saw him link up effortlessly with Howard Anthony aka Alan Jaskson (Les Ferdidand) but
with the introduction of Les Dennis (Alan Shearer) and subsequent resignation of Paul Bradley (Kevin Keegan) the 1996/97 season failed to see Peter first on the team-sheet as he
had been for so long.
New manager Bradley Walsh( Kenny Dalglish) 's recent signings had seen Boardman (Beardsley) consigned to a spell on the substitute's bench and it was at this point that
Wanderers' boss Nigel Blackwell (replacing paul heaton as colin todd) chose to follow up with his initial inquiry for the player at the end of the 1996/97 season with a firm offer. Although not
keen last season Beardsley himself must still feel he has a lot to offer a Premiership club and accepted second time around, only for Bradley Walsh,(Kenny Dalglish) to
block the move when Les Dennis (Alan Shearer)incurred a freak accident in pre-season and Howard Anthony aka Alan Jaskson (Les Ferdidand) was sold simultaneously to Spurs.
Following much fury from the Bolton side of the arrangement, Nigel Blackwell (replacing Mick Miller and paul heaton as colin todd) has finally got his man, splashing out £450,000 on a player who will be 37 years
old mid-way through his first season at the Reebok stadium. Despite Nigel Blackwell (replacing Mick Miller and paul heaton as colin todd)s beliefs in the former international, Boardman (Beardsley) soon found his place to be
more often on the subs. bench than on the field. For a player who is facing 40 soon, this is was not a good sign, and when ( Frank Worthington) Frank Clark wanted him on
loan to help struggeling City away from the bottom of division 1, Boardman shows how much Beardsley was happy to help.
Boardman's portays excellently too,Beardleys kanck for panto in a way only the greats of this world like Frank Bruno can..
This film will be directed by Wim Wenders and Jenny Powell
CRAIG BOARDMAN has kicked drink into touch after his
infamous night in police cells.
The Ossett Town captain was embarrassingly
released on bail after a night on the tiles ended up in
mayhem and Town manager Gary Brook was
called to a Royston police station to rescue him
seven months ago.
Boardman, although he has never been convicted of any
offence, has had a succession of run-ins with the law.
But now, after drinking and causing chaos, the
Potential scottish international star has decided to become
teetotal.
His Ossett Town team-mates have even
nicknamed him The Prune because he refuses to get
involved in any celebrations that may bring him into
contact with drink.
Instead, Boardman has decided to mend his ways and
prefers to spend his nights at home with the wife, the cats and
his vintage selection of 1950's replica toffee rappers.
One Town star admitted: "We all thought it was a bit
of a joke at first, but the longer he went without a drink,
the more determined he became to stop completely."
Brook is completely staggered by Boardman's stance
and some of the Town lads have even taken bets on
when Boardman will finally give into the demon drink
again.
Yet seven hours on, and to the surprise of his
team-mates, Boardman shows no signs of returning to his
old ways.
CRAIG BOARDMAN could be set to make his international
debut. OSSETT TOWN are awaiting a a letter of confirmation
after being contacted by agents reportedly working on
behalf of the Faroe Islands FA. The Islands have two
games with Boardman in mind on March 15 and 29 against Chile, and Gary Brook said: "Boardie obviously wants to play international
football, but we have to make sure no one ends up with
egg on their face."
BY ZEN BY LA PETER
Craig Boardman slammed against claims of him being a DEVIL WORSHIPPER in a Yorkshire hamlet by launching a campaign to prevent their tiny
church from being closed by its “big brother” parish.
he said the converted schoolhouse which has been used for services for almost two
centuries, is an integral part of the community,I just want to do what Sir Cliff would do . ,
But parish leaders say that St Bartholomew’s at Carlton could soon need substantial and
expensive repairs. They want to sell the building.
Boardman has appealed to the bishop to intervene ,But they want to buy more shares in G.E.C.
The Church of England Parish of Guiseley centres on St Oswald’s Church in the centre of
the town. Three smaller satellite churches serve other communities in the parish – St
Paul’s at Esholt, St Peter’s at Tranmere Park, and St Bartholomew’s at Carlton.
Esholt became famous as the location for the Emmerdale TV soap and St Paul’s church
was used for Emmerdale’s fictitious baptisms, weddings and funerals. The village still
attracts tourists although Emmerdale moved to a purpose-built site more than a year ago.
St Peter’s serves Tranmere Park, an affluent residential area of Guiseley.
But St Bartholomew’s serves Carlton, a scattered agricultural community near Otley
Chevin.
Carlton’s population is only in double figures, although it is slowly increasing through
incomers buying disused barns converted into homes. The population is expected to
reach 100 soon and Boardman hopes to twin it with Carlon in Barnsley and ferry over 200 people on buses to swell attendances.
St Bartholomew’s has a regular monthly congregation of 12 to 20 but special occasions
such as Harvest Festival attract a capacity 30 to 40. But with Boardmans plan these figures can be expected to show a massive 49.98% increase
Guiseley Parochial Church Council has decided to re-define its priorities and commitments
and is recommending that the church’s owners, the Bradford Diocese, sells St
Bartholomew’s to save money and bolster its 54% stake in G.E.C To 67%.
But local Boardman along with churchwarden and farmer Roy Dalby has organised a petition to the bishop, the
Rt Rev David Smith.
Mr Dalby, who was warden since 1984, taking over from his father who held the position
for 40 years, said: “It is the only public building in the village.” A bit like what Boardman hoped to do as a player at Barnsley before fate interfered.
Boardman snapped at what Guiseley’s rector, the Rev Graham Atherton, said: “St Bartholomew's is used by very few
people.
"Fables still tell the truth " Blasted Boardman
“We do not derive any income from it. It is a question for the parochial church council,
who would be liable to pick up the bill, to ask whether we can really afford to spend
money on it when there are other things which have more priority.”
He said an offery by a Carlton parishioner to turn a disused barn into a place for worship
had influenced the decision to recommend the sale of St Bartholomew's ,Boardman add supplied a make shift alter from plyboard supplied from Ossett Town sponser Builders Supply.
But Mr Dalby said: "”We are paying our way. The population is going to increase
enormously over the next couple of years and that and Boardmans twinning bus plan.”

GEORGE BOARDMAN was overjoyed last night at the decision of
Soccer-playing son Craig to choose "St Andrew rather
than St George or the Dragon".
Soccer scouting legend Boardman spoke out after 29-year-old Craig
turned down both England and Wales and instead pledged his allegiance
to Scotland.
Ossett Town defender Craig said: "I had to go with my heart and
my heart has always belonged to Scotland.
"It was a tough decision and I was very flattered by
Wales and England' interest in me, but at the end of the day I'm
English and playing for Scotland has always been a
dream for me."
Proud dad George, speaking from South Emsell, said: "I'm
absolutely delighted that Craig has plumped for St Andrew rather than St
George or the Dragon, but in no way did I
influence him. I was very anxious that it should be his
decision. I understand it was difficult for him with the English
Welsh and both Keegan and Hughes showing the interest that they
have. Craig is very at home in the Principality,He loved
playing for Forest and had a lot of good mates there.
"But when it comes to international sport, you go with
your heart and with the passion you feel for the
nationality you belong to."
Craig phoned Wales coach Hughes yesterday morning to
give him the decision.
"He was great about it," said Craig. "I guess it's like a
Ryan Giggs always wanting to play for Wales.
I think he understood my position.
"I obviously hope I can now go all the way to full honours,
but my main priority is to carry on playing as best I can
for Ossett Town. If Scotland come calling that will be superb.
"I understand that the Scotland full and A squads are
named this week. It would be fantastic if my name is
anywhere on the list, but there are a lot of good players
out there.
"My fingers will be crossed but if I'm not included this
time I shall keep playing for Town and hope it is there
one day."
Ossett Town centre half Craig Boardman, completed a memorable
day for Sotlandby telling coach Craig Brown that
he, too, had rejected a place in this weekend's Wales
trial.
Boardman, 29, whose Mother is Welsh, said: "I was born in
Barnsley and after careful consideration I have decided to
pursue my international ambitions with Scotland."
Scotland coach Craig Brown said: "I appreciate that
Craig had a difficult decision to make but I believe it
was the right one."
Have you ever asked yourself WHY a certain Craig Boardman is being tracked,
categorized, filed, numbered, referenced, documented,
classified, qualified, registered, indexed, recorded,
listed, and archived by an whole possie of leading club coaches?
Ossett Town are even checking Any monetary transaction over a specified limit and it is being
traced by the IRS. His cash withdrawals from his bank
are tracked . When he payed for an airline ticket in cash he was put
under suspicion. Because of his contract Ossett Town his collection of Phonecards and his potting shed can now be searched and
property seized without any charges. What is happening
to the right of mankind.. "Life, Liberty, and Happiness"?
Boardman stated " I Want to protect my assets, property, and life long
possessions from being sold to pay taxes instead of going
to my future children or estate?
Adding "Did you know 40+% of North America's workforce now get paid directly
or indirectly by government. Never in history have so
many been so successfully lied to and deceived by so few
,there is a way to simply, ellegantly, make all of
your worldly assets disappear from the government's
or anyone else's radar screen!"

It seems to be working, much to the delight of Craig Boardman and Ossett Town, who committed themselves
in November to raising five thousand pounds
over three years to support hieratary piers subjected to additional role of scrutinising deregulation proposals and other projects.
" hieratary piers subjected to additional role of scrutinising deregulation proposals and other projects have been doing some great work throughout the
west and south yorkshire," said Craig Boardman on the day. "They've given the Duke of Norfolk, The Earl Marshall (Conservative) and the Marquess of Cholmondley, The Lord Great
Chamberlain (Cross Bench) the opportunity to go to school and take up the offer of privatley run special job "clubs" run by Sir Paul Sykes from Barnsley and his recently found "God" inside name sake O.B.E from Wakefield , and given them
access to pass clean water.
"So it can only be a good cause and for Ossett Town
to be involved is a wonderful thing and a great honour."
It has to be said, Boardman struggled with the percussion a
bit, trying to rap out a rhythm on the These are the Duke of Norfolk, The Earl Marshall (Conservative) and the Marquess of Cholmondley, The Lord Great
Chamberlain (Cross Bench)'s home-made
drums, which were made from old trash cans and
containers, spray-painted red, green, blue and yellow.
But the Town defender was soon back doing what he does
best, showing off his football skills as the Duke of Norfolk, The Earl Marshall (Conservative) and the Marquess of Cholmondley, The Lord Great
Chamberlain (Cross Bench) chased
him across the field. At one point, he juggled the ball on
the run, using only his head.
Apart from that, These are the Duke of Norfolk, The Earl Marshall (Conservative) and the Marquess of Cholmondley, The Lord Great
Chamberlain (Cross Bench) were in control of a five-minute fun
match, outnumbering and swarming all over the rest of the Ossett Town and specially invited guests the crankies,Teddy Sheringham & Roy Keane ,Alan Davies ,Rory McGrath and Peter's & Lee. These are the Duke of Norfolk, The Earl Marshall (Conservative) and the Marquess of Cholmondley, The Lord Great
Chamberlain (Cross Bench) side took advantage of their local climate to win 3-0,
wildly celebrating each time they scored past the town keeper.
"I can guarantee you, These are the Duke of Norfolk, The Earl Marshall (Conservative) and the Marquess of Cholmondley, The Lord Great
Chamberlain (Cross Bench) will never forget this!"
Arnie Go Smurf, the marketing director for
hieratary piers subjected to additional role of scrutinising deregulation proposals and other projects European office added.
"They've had the chance to play soccer with Craig Boardman, and the rest of this fabulous
star-studded team . It will stay with them forever.
“But I think the most important thing was that Craig Boardman gave
them the message that we wanted him to deliver," added
the hieratary piers subjected to additional role of scrutinising deregulation proposals and other projects man. "The message is that you need to go to
school if you want to get somewhere. You need Re-education
to improve your life,Ther's plenty of life in the old dogs yet,so don't roll ole shep just yet!."
The meeting in the corbies bar royston last week was just the latest in a series
of fund raising events, aimed at promoting the Craig BoardmanFor
hieratary piers subjected to additional role of scrutinising deregulation proposals and other projects campaign.
"Craig Boardman and his Ossett Town have a big international reputation now,
and they've made a commitment to visit OLD CHAPS of a
hieratary piers subjected to additional role of scrutinising deregulation proposals and other projects-supported project in every county they play in.
"They did that in Cheshire, visiting a school in moss side, and
they've now done the same in bolton."
Here's to the next charity stop on Town's whistle stop tour, and
in the meantime, best of luck to hieratary piers subjected to additional role of scrutinising deregulation proposals and other projects for their very
worthy cause.
These are the Duke of Norfolk, The Earl Marshall (Conservative) and the Marquess of Cholmondley, The Lord Great
