The History Of Marilyn Manson(and the spooky kids)

1987

After graduating from high school in Canton Ohio, Marilyn Manson, then Brian Warner, and his family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. One of the first people he met was Twiggy Ramirez at a local mall.
Sometime later, Manson and Ramirez form a fake Christian death metal band called Satan on Fire, which spawned the single, "Mosh for Jesus" that was played on a local radio. Twiggy sang while Manson played bass. Another band that they put together was called Mrs. Scabtree. Twiggy dressed like a black woman and sang lead while Manson played the drums. They had a single called "Herpes" that was played on the local radio station.

1989

Marilyn Manson and Daisy Berkowitz teamed up together to form Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Marilyn Manson handled the lyrics while Berkowitz played the music. Previously, Marilyn had spent a short time as a journalist for a local newspaper covering the music scene. in his spare time he wrote fiction and poetry(how nice). This would be Manson's first time singing in a band but Berkowitz guitar for numbers of local bands. The original band was:

The EP Smells Like Children is released in September and debuts at #53on the Billboards top 200 Album Charts
"Sweet Dreams" becomes Marilyn Manson's first breakthrough single. The band starts a tour to support Smells Like Children and is later dubbed the Snow Tour because of the servere weather conditions. The band had oxygen tanks on stage and most of the members had to fight off the colds they had during this tour. Some of the January tour dates were canceled due to the cold. One incident from the tour was when the band were trapped in Allentown, Pennsylvania during the blizzard of 96 that dumped 2-3 feet of snow along the east coast. The band shared a hotel with the sesame street live and the Orlando Majic basketball team. Jon Conak from the basketball team told the New York Times, "remember the bar scene from Star Wars with all the animals and aliens? Thats what that night looked like. A bunch of basketball players, sesame street and some guy with green hair dressed like the Grim Reaper chain-smoking(it was Daisy Berkowitz)."
The recording of Antichrist Superstar takes place at Trent Reznor's recording studio in New Orleans with Reznor co-producing with Skinny Puppy's Dave Ogilivie. Daisy Berkowitz left during the recording of Antichrist Superstar and the band brought in ZimZum to fill in.
