Hello Debs, Thank you for your note. Unfortunately, I was unable to get on to your URL - Angelfire didn't like it. There were 1420 references to "Debi" but I could not see anything that I thought might be yours.
Anyway, I will give you the information that I have re KAEDING"S and perhaps, tomorrow, I might get access to your site.
My grandmother was Auguste Emilie Kaeding, born at Brussow on 13 December, 1861.
She was the illegitimate daughter of Albertine Caroline Kaeding who was born also at Brussow on 19 July, 1844.
Albertine's parents were Wilhelm Kaeding and Christine Louise (nee Ziemendorf). The record of death for Christine Louise (also Brussow (3 May 1845)) showed that she left a husband and seven surviving small children. We have a record for four of these children.
Apart from Albertine, there was Wilhelm Adolphe Kaeding born ABT 1832 and died Brussow 2 July 1848; Emilie Friede Kaeding born 29 Jun, 1841 and Friedrich Wilhelm Kaeding born 15 June, 1842.
At the christening for Auguste Emilie in 1862, there were three witnesses - Julius Kaeding, Ludwig Kaeding and Auguste Kaeding (the title shown for Auguste indicates that she is an unmarried woman).
I have had contact with a Rainer Kaeding in Germany and he has perused the same Brussow church records as I have done and also inspected the cemetery there. He is sure that Julius was a brother to Albertine and was his G/Grandfather.
I found a birth record for a Johann as the son of Julius and an Auguste Witte in the late 60s.
Rainer knew that Julius had married an Auguste Witte and the son Johann was his Grandfather.
We cannot locate any more church records prior to 1841 but we have speculated that the three witnesses to Auguste's christening were her mother's siblings - bearing in mind that her mother's mother died when Albertine was not a year old and someone must have reared her.
I did find reference to a Michael Kaeding at Brussow - he was a Shopkeeper in the 1840's but I have been unable to tie anything up there.
There are no Kaeding's living at Brussow now - according to Rainer but there is a family Ziemendorf.
Rainer advised that there was talk in his younger days that a brother of Julius had emigrated - he wasn't sure whether it was to Australia or to USA. I have not been able to find any reference to any of the brothers here. However, for your information, I did find a reference to a Friedrich Wilhelm Kaeding arriving in Australia ( I really thought I had something, there) but alas, no. Ths Friedrich arrived in South Australia in August 1879 on the "City of London" (Unable to locate passenger list). On his Declaration, his profession was shown as "farm labourer and assistant distiller" and he was shown as a native of NAMSLAU in the province of Silesia, Prussia.
That is all I have, Debs, and you are welcome to use the information any way you think - I am disappointed that I cannot read of yours but, perhaps, another day I might get access.
Greetings from Canberra, Australia and I wish you all the best. If there is a connection, please let me know. Thanks
