Dear Debbie,
I'm W.M. and Melzina's grand daughter. My father, John Gibson Martin was their oldest living child. He died in 1974. All of the sons have passed away, there was Uncle Alvin, Uncle Bill, Uncle Ollie (Steve), Uncle Cecil, and Uncle Luther. Luther and Steven passed away this year. Aunt Jean sent me a copy of the Obituary for Uncle Steve. I can mail you a copy if you like as it has a nice picture (a little blurry). He was a really handsome man with the kindest heart. He was born August 10th 1917 in Greenville (one of 12 children!) Aunt Jean lives in San Antonio. My father was born July 18th 1908 or 1909. My mother was Elizabeth Dunham Martin. I can't remember the last time I saw Aunt Martha but I think I was just a little girl. Aunt Grace passed away but Aunt Laura, Aunt Margaret and Aunt Janie are still in South Carolina. There was a son who died as a very young man and I have a picture of him but I can't remember his name right now. There was a graveyard next to the house that Grandmother Martin lived in (her sons and her husband had built it). There were two little girls buried there I think but Aunt Margaret or Aunt Janie would know better than I. All the children were born at home and my aunt Janie says they were all "ten month babies" and that the Doctor knew they would be late. She is the baby of the family and the same age as my brother. She also has some of the best stories to tell. I believe that aunt Margaret has done a family history of sorts. My sister has her address if you want to contact her. She has just one daughter Reba.
I was browsing through my husband's geneology and he said "why don't you look up some of your relatives so I did and the very first thing that came up was you!!!!! Please feel free to e-mail me if we match up. My sister, Liz Klinger, is in Ft. Worth, Texas and her e-mail address is aklinger@flash.net. I really don't know why the TN is listed after W.M.'s name. I don't remember anyone saying that he was from TN. He (or my grandmother) had an uncle Max who came by the old place from time to time on his way to Tennessee. I'm in Columbia, Maryland. I have two kids (girls) and Liz has three (two boys and a girl) and five grandchildren) It's really nice to meet you and I hope to hear from you real soon. This is soooo exciting. Wow - I just never thought I'd find anything on the net re: MY FAMILY. I keep editing this and I could continue all night so I'll just leave it like this and post it.
Sara
