The art of American illustration

Here is the catalog of the 1976 exhibition at the Brandywine River Museum. Darley was included in the exhibit. The exhibit was a survey of American book and periodical illustration from the 1850s-1976, including works by 90 illustrator/artists. Special emphasis on Howard Pyle and the Brandywine tradition of illustrators. Artists represented included F.O.C. Darley.

Page ix has an advertisement for "The Star Spangled Banner" illustrated by Darley and page x has an absolutely charming vignette. Ray/Nancy This gem came from the University of Michigan Making of America series. I have been working my way through 230 references to Darley and am finding a treasure trove.
