~Chapter 7~<\center>
The next few weeks were absolutely heaven for the new 'Romeo and Juliet.' Every time they hung out with A.J., they'd always make sure to make out at least once.
"Guys! Will you stop for a minute! Dammit, you're like Mr. and Mrs. Energizer Bunny! You just keep going and going and going and going!" exclaimed a very exasperated A.J.
But neither listened. They were too busy kissing to even heed his complaints.
"Are you guys ever going to come up for air?!"
"Don't need it," mumbled Howie still liplocked.
"Argh! Fine! Don't even care that Kevin and Brian are coming tomorrow!"
That caught their attention. "They're coming tomorrow? Really?" "Duh!"
"Cool."
"Great! Now I finally get to meet the Kentucky cousins! Well, I mean in person, not in my videos or posters," cheerfully added Elena.
"Uh, yeah, and their parents, Brian's brother and his niece, and Kevin's two brothers with their wives and children are coming, too. The whole Kentucky crew will be here!"
"That's great. They're taking the kids to Disney World?"
"Yup and they graciously invited us to go with them. But we have to rehearse for the charity concert that day."
"Oh, that's right!"
"What charity concert?" asked Elena.
"You didn't tell her?"
"Oops. It sorta slipped my mind," simpered Howie. "Um, it's to raise money for cancer research. A lot of bands are going to be there. Besides us there's Britney Spears, Imajin, All Saints, B*witched, 'N Sync, and Next. It's gonna be cool!"
"Awwe, it's like a teenybopper fest!"
"Yeah, well I guess a lot of teen girls will be there, but it's for a very good cause, so hopefully a lot of other people will swallow their pride and come."
"Oh, you can count me in!" exclaimed Elena. "I have no shame in admitting that I'm a Backstreet freak!"
Howie put his arms around her waist and pulled her in closer.
"That's because you're dating a BSB. I bet you wouldn't give us the time of day, otherwise," he smirked.
"That's not true! You guys are so talented! Your music is really good!"
"Yeah right. Then how come you didn't have our CD before if we're so great?"
"Cuz, I…I…I didn't have enough time to go to the music store and besides I only heard one song from you guys and you shouldn't buy a CD for just one song cuz you're screwed if the rest sucks, so I was waiting for your next few singles…"
"Ok, we get the idea," interrupted A.J.
"Sorry."
"You're forgiven," Howie grinned as she climbed onto his lap.
"And you're cute," she said as she poked his nose.
"And I think I'm gonna be sick!" exclaimed A.J. "There you go at it again!"
On the outside, he played it 'cool' and acted like it annoyed him and everything. But inside, A.J. knew that Elena and Howie were meant for each other. He was even a little jealous that his best friend had finally found someone and he was still left loveless. But he was truly happy for them.
"Guys, are you gonna suck face all day or what?! Yo D, in case you haven't noticed, we're wanted in the studio!"
"Oh yeah, damn. I guess I'll have to see you later, then."
Howie managed to steal one more kiss from her before A.J. pulled him by his arm.
The night of the concert, backstage… "Hey, hey, hey, A.J.! Wazzup?!" Justin Timberlake from 'N Sync enthusiastically greeted A.J.
"Hey! Just spending our break chillin' and workin', you?"
"Touring and stuff. We're starting on the new album, now. It's gonna be phat!"
"Cool."
Meanwhile, Howie went to talk to Brian. "Hey, how's he holding up? I know this is a touchy subject for him."
He was referring to Kevin. Ever since his father died of cancer in 1991, he has become a lot more serious and certain things could upset him easily.
"Well, he's a little nervous about performing because our families are watching…so am I," replied Brian, "but otherwise, he's pretty cool about it."
"That's good."
A few minutes later, Elena jogged up to them.
"Watcha doin'?"
"Just chattin'," answered Brian. "Looking good, Bri," Elena complimented Brian. He was wearing a blue dress shirt and black vest, with a red tie, and black pants.
"Thanks."
"Hey, what about me?" whined Howie.
"You're ok," she joked lightly punching his arm.
Before Howie got a chance to defend himself, Derek Strauss, their new manager, walked in and announced that they were going on in five minutes.
"Ok, we'll settle this later," stated Howie to Elena in a mock angry tone.
"Good luck," she said, then gave him a kiss. "Have fun, guys!" she said to all the bands going to perform, as she waved to them and walked off to find her seat in the audience. She sat beside PollyAnna, Howie's sister.
"Hello," greeted PollyAnna, "I'm glad you could come."
"Hi! Yeah, I wouldn't miss it for the world!"
PollyAnna smiled. "So, you're really into my baby brother, eh?"
"Oh, yes," answered Elena with a dreamy look on her face. "I don't usually go for younger men, but something about him…just…I don't know. I love him."
"I've noticed. You guys look so cute together! Well, I am extremely happy for you two."
"Thank you."
They continued chatting for a while, until the teenagers started screaming and fainting. The Boys popped up from the stage and started with "That's The Way I Like It." The song was flawless and the dance moves were awesome! After that, came "All I Have To Give," complete with hat routine and then they ended it with "Everybody."
All Saints came next with "Never, Ever", "I Know Where It's At" and another song. 'N Sync performed "God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You", "Here We Go", and "I Want You Back." Their performance, also, was as cool as hell! They were followed by Imajin, Britney Spears, B*witched, and last, but not least, Next. The concert was a huge success! They raised twenty-five million dollars! After the show, everyone went to celebrate. BSB and 'N Sync decided to show B*witched around Orlando. They ended up in Corky's Ice cream Palace.
"So how do you like it here?" Nick asked Lindsay from B*witched, very interested.
"It is very nice. I've been to New York, but never here. I think I like Florida better," answered Lindsay in her Irish accent.
"Cool."
"I think Nicky's got a crush," whispered Brian to A.J. grinning.
A.J. looked over to Nick who was clearly flirting with her and she seemed to like him back.
'Great. Soon everyone will have a girlfriend, but me,' he thought to himself.
Brian saw the disturbed face on A.J. and decided to change the subject. "So…JC, how's life?"
"Pretty good, except for the fact that we're leaving Trans-Con."
"What?! Why?"
"Lou pretends to be our friend, but all he cares about is how much money he makes. He's doing to us what he did to you guys and he'll probably do it to Britney, too, so she's thinking about leaving, as well."
"Damn! He never learns!"
"Nope, so we're hunting around for new management right now, and working on our next album."
"You've got to be kidding!" exclaimed Howie. "He called us a few months ago begging for us to come back and promising that he'd never do it again!"
"He did?" asked A.J. confused. "When?"
Howie forgot that the others didn't know. "Oh, umm…remember a long time ago, we were in the studio recording something, and the phone rang, so I answered it and told you and Nick it was my mother wanting something from the store? Well, it was Lou. I didn't want t o say anything cuz I didn't want cause anymore trouble between us. Anyway, it wasn't important. I told him 'no.' "
"Oh, well, he called me, too, at my house. I wasn't there, but when my mom told me he called, I called back. Johnny answered it. Lou wasn't there. But since then, neither one of us called back."
"Hey, guys," said Brian, "Lou called Kevin and me, too."
"Hey! Why was I left out?!" whined Nick.
"Consider yourself lucky! What is up with that?!"
"I don't know," answered A.J., "and frankly I don't care. If he's going out of business or something, that's his problem. He dug his own grave by cheating us, and you." (referring to 'N Sync).
"Yeah. Let's not let this bother us. We're finally going to do what WE want to do," added Kevin.
"I agree," said Howie.
"Yup," agreed A.J.
"Ditto," replied 'N Sync in sync.
"Do you guys always say everything at the same time?" asked Nick.
"Sometimes," replied 'N Sync all together. That was unintentional, so everyone laughed.
"Hey, does anyone want to go to the beach tomorrow?" asked Brian.
"Can't. We have to interview managers and stuff," retorted Justin, disappointed.
"Keavy? Edele? Sinead? Lindsay? Would any of you lovely ladies like to come?"
"Is Nick going?" asked Lindsay.
"Yes, I am."
"Then I would happily accompany you."
"Great!"
A chorus of "oooooh"s came from the groups. Nick and Lindsay blushed.
"We appreciate it, boys, but Edele, Keavy, and myself would like to do some sightseeing of our own, right, girls?" said Sinead as she winked, implying that they wanted to hunt for hotties.
"Ok."
"Hey, can I bring…" began Howie.
"Yes, Howie, you can bring Elena," finished A.J. "We all know how horrible it would be if you two were kept apart for a WHOLE DAY!"
Howie just grinned.
"Aiight, peeps, we gotta call it a night. C-ya," stated Justin as he got up. (*Author's note: I'm not making fun of Justin, but we all know he likes to talk in ebonics, so no hatemail please.)
Everyone shook hands, said their "good-byes", then left.
