This page shows how you can take the frame work of an ordinary Undead warband and play a force of disaster that your opponents will never forget! On a very technical basis, this a tournament legal warband, as it is merely model substitution and restrictions of what the Undead can take.
Amon Seth, Khemri Tombking
1 Tomb King (Vampire)- The Tomb King is the same (rules-wise) as a normal Vampire in the Undead Warband. My Tomb King is armed with a double handed weapon because "flail" is not on the Undead weapons list. You could use any of the old GW mummies as your Tomb King. I added a loincloth to mine because he was adorned unevenly. You may have to alter your mummy to make make him more regal and more balanced.
Abdul Alazred, Liche Priest
0-1 Liche Priest (Necromancer) The Liche Prest is statiscally identical to the Mordheim necromancer. Using GW's suggestion of an Empire light wizard as a Liche Priest, I found an old plastic light wizard which suited my needs better than the metal one. Remember that a hammer is the same in the rules as a club, mace, or staff. That is why mine has that great serpent staff. The Khemri do not have Dreg equivalents, as the Liche Priest is the only human the Tomb King will show any sort of respect. Other humans would be killed on the spot and raised as skeletons (which follow orders better anyway.)
One of Pickman's Models, a unit of Ghuls
Ghul (Ghoul) A ghoul is a ghoul is a ghoul. They don't change much from one area to another. Except for using the original Arabic name for the corpse-hungry monsters, they remain unchanged from the Undead warband list to the Khmeri warband list.
Khemri honorguard, skeleton
Skeleton (Zombie) Since the White Dwarf Khemri Army List shows skeletons as the main soldiers, I decided to use them in place of zombies. They serve the same function and have the same stats in Mordheim for this warband's purposes. The skeletons' weapons can be passed off as rusted artefacts they were burried with, which have no game value other than accounting for why they have 1 strength 3 attack in close combat.
Set's Judgement, one of a pair of hideous Sphinxes
0-3 Sphinxes (dire wolves) I almost cut out a dire wolf equivalent for the Khemri because I couldn't find anything appropriate. I first tried Dark Eldar Warp Beasts, but they didn't fit the motif at all. I had an epiphany at Games Day '00 watching the Warmaster demo. Immediately, I bought a pair of Warmaster Undead Sphinxes and they have taken down many a human mercenary for my Tomb King.
Captain Yoda:BeforeCaptain Yoda:After
I thought I would add this in for fun. My Liche Priest has the Spell Of Awakening (which makes dead heroes rise as zombies with weapons for your Undead warband) and my warband had killed a Middenheimer Mercenary Captain. Rather than just taking another skeleton and adding a pistol, I took bits of an unused skeleton and various Empire bits to create a better representation of the deceased captain. I don't know how often this spell is actually used in the game or how many people actually make a zombie to use as the awakened victim. I decided to show off Yoda (I didn't name him, mind you!) as encouragement to other Undead players who may be in the position to animate fallen foes.
