My April Vacation

My April Vacation

Kassandra

We left on our vacation at 4:00 in the morning. We drove past 7 States and drove 8 hours. I played with the toys in the car. We got to Washington D.C. at lunch time. The first day we drove around and checked into the hotel. Our hotel was very nice. They opened the doors for us all the time. They left us chocolate on the beds. It was very fancy. We rented a VCR because it was going to rain all day the next day. There was no Nickelodeon on their cable.

The next day we went to the Zoo. I saw a giraffe, a panda, elephants and lots of other animals. The panda is the only one in this area of the United States. He ate bamboo.

I also went to see the tomb of the Unknown Soldier and President Kennedy’s grave at Arlington Cemetery. It was sad ti see all those crosses. Then we walked to the Lincoln Memorial and the Korean and Vietnam Memorial. Our feet really hurt from walking. It was very far, but I did not want to stop.

The next day we walked to the Jefferson Memorial and the Washington Memorial. Then we went across the street and saw the Holocaust Museum. I liked David’s Story. It told the story of a little Jewish boy and what happened. It was sad. I did not like how they had to live. Then we went to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. I saw the Hope Diamond. It was blue and huge! I also saw many dinosaurs. We also saw the History museum. I saw Fonzie’s leather jacket and Oscar the Grouch and his can. It was cool to see all the stuff.

The next day we went to the Air and Space Museum. That was really really great! They had rockets and spaceships and lots of great stuff from space. I think I liked it the best. I saw what astronauts had to wear. I also touched and went into some great planes. I also got to see all the monsters and good guys from the movie Star Wars. R2D2 and C3PO were really great to look at. Darth Vader was very tall and kind of scary. This was the best museum!
