Started in 1879 by Charles Taze Russell, a Bible study leader. He had a seventh grade education and was a furniture salesman/manager. Charles denied the existence of hell, the Trinity and deity of Christ. He stated the Bible could be understood only by his comprehension. He controlled 99% of the churches stock. He was caught in a scam in which he was selling "miracle wheat" that was supposed to yield 15 times more that normal. He was sued for the scam and lost the suit.

After his death Joseph Franklin Rutherford took over, and named the organization Jehovah’s Witnesses after Isaiah 43:10.

1. They don't celebrate birthdays or Christmas based on Jeremiah 10:1-5. This is really a reference to false idols. They don't vote, salute the flag, or serve in the armed forces apparently ignoring Romans 13:1-7.

2. Understand that no member of the JW's is allowed to think for themselves. They are term switchers and will say they have an understanding of Hebrew and Greek. Any mention of hell, eternal punishment, the Trinity doctrine, immortal soul or the Deity of Jesus triggers an instantaneous and hostile reflex. Remember that all other Christians are considered to be of the devil’s organization. Their emphasis is on prophecy and distorted eschatology.
