The Jehovah Witnesses use the New World Translation Bible. It was translated with the help of the Roman Catholic church and published in 1950.

Dr. Julius Mantey, a Greek scholar, now deceased, wrote A Manual Grammar of the Greek New Testament. Not only did he rejected the NWT but he demanded that the Jehovah’s Witnesses stop quoting his book in support of their translation. He called the NWT a distorted translation.

Dr. John Thayer, a Unitarian and Greek scholar, pointed out translation errors even though he did not believe in the content of the New Testament.

Some translation errors:

John 1:1 "the word was a god"

Colossians 1:16 "By means of him all (other) things were created". The word other is inserted.

Colossians 2:9 they use the word "divine quality" instead of Deity.

Titus 2:13 "While we wait for the happy hope and glorious manifestation of the great God and of (the) Savior of us, Jesus Christ". The JW’s add the word the.

There are many translation errors in the NWT. This is just a few but it will give you an idea of what you are dealing with.
