Rose petals
iron pot
rose water
rose oil
needle
nylon threadEven a short necklace will require approximately three dozen roses. Remove petals from the flower head and chop very fine. Cooking the petals in the iron pot will cause oxidation in the beads, turning them black. (Any other kind of pot will not give you the deep black color.) Add enough rose water to just barely cover the petals. Gently heat the petals for an hour (Do not allow to boil!) Remove the mixture from the heat and allow to sit for a day.
Repeat the heating procedure for two more days, adding more rose water as necessary. Oil your fingers with the rose oil and roll the pulped material into balls. Allow the beads to dry somewhat, thread the needle with the nylon thread. Heat the needle and string the beads into a necklace.
As the beads are drying, slide them back and forth on the nylon thread to prevent the holes from closing or the beads from sticking. Allow the beads to dry thoroughly before wearing them.
