Bibliomancy or Stichomancy (literally, divination from lines) is divination through a book, sometimes a bible. Moslems use the Quran for this divination. During the middle ages, the Aeneid was popular, and later, Shakespeare was used. With the eyes closed, the questioner opens a book at a random page. Without looking, a line or passage in the book is selected as the answer or prophecy of the moment.
Bibliomancy also refers to a test used to determine whether a person was guilty of sorcery. The individual was weighed against the big Bible in a Church. If he or she weighed less, then they were innocent.
