The term Floromancy is sometimes also used for the belief that flowers have the power to cure disease however.
Floromancy or Anthomancy is based on the belief that flowers radiate different vibrations, reacting to a sympathetic or hostile environment. Interpretation includes their colors, petals, time of planting, and where planted. The "luck" attributed to finding a four-leaf clover falls into this category. Anthomancy in particular refers to the practice of plucking the petals of a flower uttering alternately "She/he loves me" for one petal, and "She/he loves me not" for the next.
Patricia Telesco has written a book entitled, The Victorian Flower Oracle, which makes use of the Victorian Language of Flowers as a tool for divination by transforming pressed flowers into cards or lots.
