Sometimes called spectrolite, labradorite is a gray, white, or yellow form of feldspar which often displays spectral colors due to the interference of light rays from its plate-like composition. This gives it broad patches of peacock blue, coppery red, and gold luminescence. Its technical name is sodium calcium aluminum silicate. Labradorite was named for the area in which it was found and coined the term labradoescence for its luminosity, which transforms a rather dull stone into a spectacular piece. Gem quality stones have also been discovered in Finland where the name spectrolite is more popular. Another form of labradorite is referred to as black moonstone. It is a colorless variety darkened by needlelike inclusions.
Labradorite elevates the consciousness and protects the aura. Patience is improved, and it helps you be aware of the “right time” for action. The connection between the ethereal and physical bodies is enhanced by this stone. This stone has connections to the moon. It is recommended to Aquarians, Pisces, Sagittarians, Scorpios, Leos, and Capricorns.
As a pendulum indicator, Labradorite is especially useful when searching the body for problems. It may be used to treat disorders of the brain, stimulate mental activity, and reduce anxiety and stress. Digestion and regulation of the metabolism are favorably affected by this stone, the eyes also benefit.
