A Who's Who of World Mythology : Aizen-Myoo

Aizen-Myoo is a Japanese Buddhist god of love, especially worshipped by prostitutes, landlords, tavern-keepers, singers and musicians. Despite his terrible appearance, he is full of compassion for mankind, purifying people's afflictions and freeing them from illusions and the sufferings accruing from afflictions. He has six arms and is red faced. There is a third eye above his other eyes on his forehead. Atop his leonine head is a thunderbolt (Vajra) with which he calms evil passions and forbidden desires. In his hand, he carried a bow and arrows.
