According to Ugarit myths (discovered shortly before the second world war), Aleion Baal is the son of Baal. He represents an intermediary stage between men and gods and is god clouds, winds, and rain. A troop of wild animals accompany him, including eight bears. The battle between El and Baal is carried over to their sons, Aleion and Mot. At one point both sons are slain and are resurrected to fight again. These battles seem to have been an annual event and possibly represent the seasonal changes.
