Anhur or Anhuret is a human-headed Egyptian god of war and the hunt and a sun god in Abydos (his earliest incarnation). He is usually depicted as a bearded figure, wearing a crown with four plumes and a long, embroidered robe and holding a spear or lance or occasionally a rope. Some legends place him close to the battle between Horus and Set, and he is known as hunter of the enemies of Ra. At Sebennytus, he partnered with Shu, considered the son of Hathor. His consort is the lion-headed goddess Mekhit. Anhur is also known as Onouris or Onuris in Greece and is equated with Ares. Other variations include Anher, Anhert, and Anhoret.
