The price we pay to be entertained,

How far will we go?

A few weeks ago, a Baseball player named Alex Rodriguez signed a 10 year contract for $252 million dollars! Ultimately leading Baseballs salaries by a long margin! Out of curiosity, I wonder how far and what kind of price we are willing to pay to be entertained?

The Bible warns us in 2 Timothy 3:4 that in the last days men would be lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God! It speaks for itself, when you observe the industries of sports, music, movies, video games, etc, etc, etc. And even though that is undeniably apparent in the world, the warning and admonition is concerning the apostasy of believers because that warning goes on to say in the next verse, Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away; eluding to that it is not talking about the world, but people who know and hold the truth.

So how far will people go to be entertained?

They will be willing to sell their soul, compromising the truth...

2 Timothy 4:3-4

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

They will be willing to go through the motions of playing Church, sitting under the light but not receiving the light, treasuring up for themselves wrath against the day of wrath...

Ezekiel 33:31-32

31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

They will be willing to refuse the Messiah in the day of their visitation...

Matthew 11:16-19

16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,

17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

The sum of a covetous heart

The reversal of one scripture is the sum of a covetous heart: Somewhere along the line of the deceitfulness of sin they began praying, MY KINGDOM COME, MY WILL BE DONE! Beloved, if that is you, TURN IT AROUND and get back on your knees, DENY YOURSELF once again, take up your cross daily, and follow Jesus! And start praying THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE on earth as it is done in heaven!

The love of Christ Jesus constraineth me,
