I had been waiting for last Tuesday to come for a long phuckin time but it finally came! It was THE DAY that 2pac’s new album was gonna come out!!! I first heard about its release on JD Bastin’z updates like 3 months ago. It was just a rumor so I didn’t put my hopes my up. But a month ago, when I wuz watchin MuchMusic, I saw the greatest commercial that I have seen in a long time. I saw Tupac’z face and in the background “I Wonder If Heaven Got A Guetto” wuz playin. The announcer said, “ Do you remember the artist? actor? poet? legend? SOLDIER?” At the end the announcer said, “On Sale on November 25th.” I swear, I was so phuckin excited when I saw that commercial that I actually taped the commercial later! Shit I circled the 25th on my calendar and played the waitin game! So, on Tuesday I went to the music store and luckily I got the LAST ONE there! Shit, talk about a close one! Tha CD Jacket has a pic of Tupac in a Picasso-Vincent Van Gogh ("Starry Night") like drawing. Inside the booklet there’s a message from Afeni Shakur, 2pac’z mother, which says “ 2pac lived for his music. His music was his art and was one of the most important things in his life...We’ve been blessed with the fact that 2pac left a large body of work as his legacy, so this project is the first of MANY to come and it’s a gift from 2pac to you...Every aspect of this object has a little magic in it and by sharing 2pac’s music with you, we hope to keep the magic alive.” And in the last page there’s a message from 2pac that says, “ KEEP THE FAITH IN ME, I WILL NOT LET U DOWN! LOVE, 2PAC.”
I admit that hearin 2pac once again brought great joy to my heart, know whut I’m sayin? Ok, now on with tha review!
The first CD starts off with a nice instrumental song called “Redemption”. It starts off with 2pac laughin and yellin “THUGLIFE BITCH! GOING OUT LIKE THAT!”. Then soft guitar music comes in and becomez louder and louder. In the background you can hear 2pac sayin “I’m the king!! You Can’t Kill Me! Open Fire!” I gotta say that listenin to this song makes you reminisce about when 2pac wuz alive and makes you think about what a great person we have lost. It’z ironic that he sayz that hiz enemiez can’t kill him cuz in turned out that hiz enemiez did kill him. In a way he’s right, sure they killed him but that they killed him physically, but they didn’t REALLY kill him cuz he will alwayz be alive through hiz music, hiz filmz, hiz poemz, and in our heartz!! Tupac’z a LEGEND!
The rest of the first CD is filled with the classic 2pac music that we grew to love. “Open Fire” really pumps you and it’z gotta be one of my favorite ones on da album. “RU Still Down (remember me)” is a hell of a nice song. It’z as though 2pac wuz talkin from beyond the grave or somethin and is askin the people if they are still down. It’s as though he is askin the people, who have forgotten him since his death and have been taken in by people like Puff “Can’t Rap Worth Shit” Daddy and otherz, if they still remember him. I for sure remember him, do you?
“Hellrazor” and “Thug Style” are hella tight too! Especially “Thug Style”. It starts off with “Fuck 2pac he ain’t worth shit! He ain’t from New York! He be out with thoze *iggaz from cali! Fuck 2pac! He ain’t from the West Coast! He alwayz hangin out with thoze *iggaz from New York!” and then he sayz “Fuck You Too *igga!” He rapz about not trustin anyone especially hiz enemiez. Like Treach of Naughty By Nature said in “Mourn You Till I Join You”, nobody knew how much 2pac really loved New York. He didn’t hate New York, he just hated thoze Bad Boy bitchez and the rest of hiz jealouz enemiez from New York. He loved New York and most of all, he loved the West Coast.
"Where do we go from here" is a nice slow song. I like the beat and it’z a wicked catchy tune. 2pac talks and raps in slow motion and it providez good effect to the song. Most of all, thiz song makes you think. Lizten to thiz song and you’ll know what i’m talkin about.
You’ve probably already heard the song on the commercialz or seen the video and you’ll probably agree with me when I say that thiz song is all good. Thiz song iz VERY tight. Thiz is probably one of my favorite songz on da album, maybe even THE favorite. Both versionz are good but I like the Hip Hop version better though cuz the background beatz are better.
The next two songz, “Nothing to Lose” and “I’m Getting Money” are nice to lizten to. The followin song “Lie To Kick It” is fuckin fun to lizten too! Thiz song will sure pump you up! It’z wicked! 2pac dedicatez thiz song to Mike Tyson! Classic Tupac! Classic Tupac baby! It featurez Richie Rich and you know when 2pac getz together with thiz guy, the song is gonna be da bomb! Remember “Ratha Be Ya Nigga” ? That song iz one of my all time favoritez!
“Fuck All Ya’all” is yet another wicked song. Thiz one is a slow song and itz got an awesome beat. Make sure you check thiz one out!
“Let Them Thangs Go” Has to be the song thatz the most fun to lizten to!!! If you get the album, put thiz song and turn up the volume! thiz song will give you a motherfuckin RUSH!!! The chorus is “Are you ready for my flow hit me! Are you ready for my flow hit me! Stop runnin motherfucker, let them thangz go!”, “Fuck that Bitch! Fuck that tramp! Fuck the COPS!” 2pac rapz so fuckin fast! and that along with the chorus REALLY pumps you up! And at the end I absolutely love the scratching especially the scratching of the “Ambitiouz As A Ridah” sample!
The first CD ends with “Definition of a Nigga” from Poetic Justice. Classic 2pac, thatz all I gotta say. (Love the scratching too!)
And that’z the first CD! Damn the first CD alone can beat any of that BadBoy shit comin out these dayz! And what’z more important is that it is ALL original!!! I wish Puffy could do that! Ha Ha!
Now for the Second CD. Damn this CD starts off with yet another wicked song. This one features Big Syke! Thuglife baby!
“When I get Free” starts off with a skit. This song is hella nice cuz it has a Jamaican/raggae beat goin on! 2pac raps in slow motion (not that slow but still slower than normal) which gives good effect to the song.
“Hold On Be Strong” is another nice song. It reminds me of “Keep Ya Head Up” but more upbeat. This is the Classic Tupac teachin hiz fanz not to give up and to be strong!! Fuck those people who say that he only raps about violence. He also talks about the REALITIES OF LIFE!
“I’m losin it” is cool. It features Roger Troutman (The guy who sings with that cool electronic voice in California Love) , Big Syke, and Spice1!!
“Fake Ass Bitchez” is one of my other favorite onez! Thiz song is funny! (I think) It talkz about FAKE ASS BITCHEZ!! The chorus is: “I can’t stand fake ass bitchez! Lyin ass niggaz and you punkass snitchez!!” One word comez to mind when I listen to thiz song: BAD BOY.
“Do For Love” is another good song. The background beat reminds of the beat from “Heaven Ain’t Hard To Find”. What do you think? Overall this song is pretty nice and it features Eric Williams from BLACKstreet.
“Don’t Make Enemies With Me” is dabomb! It’s definitely one of my favorites! I just love the scratching! And it featurez my favorite Outlaw Immortal, Kadafi!!!! R.I.P. Kadafi! (aka Yafeu Fula). Check thiz one out!!!!!
“Nothin But Love” is yet another wicked song! (Can you guess how many stars I’m gonna give thiz album?) I like the beat, the chorus, everything!
It’s hard not to think about Death Row Records when listening to “16 on Death Row”, I don’t know why! The chorus is fuckin catchy! Thiz song is one of the many highlights of thiz album!
See the reviews fron the first CD if you wanna see my review of “I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto”. This one’s tight.
If you wanna be pumped up and you want a song for yo gangsta partaaaayyyy, then you gotta play this one!!! Thiz song is da bomb! 2pac raps very quickly, and the beat is phat! The chorus will be stuck in yo head after you listen to this song!
If you just wanna kick back, relax and lizten to a song, then lizten to thiz “Only Fear of Death”. This one is alll gooooood! BEWARE: THIS SONG WILL MAKE YOU BOB YOUR HEAD WITHOUT BEIN ABLE TO STOP!
That ends the second CD on this wicked album. This album reminds us once again how talented 2pac really was. He truly was, is , and will alwayz be THE BEST. During these times of weak ass commercial SAMPLING rap from Puffy and his “family” (Mase is kinda cool though), it’s nice to finally have REAL rap to lizten from the person who does it best - Tupac Shakur!!!! More Albums will come out which assures us that rap will stay alive (Read the “Rap On Rap” section to know what I’m talking about) for some time to come. I encourage everyone to get a copy of thiz album cuz it’s a classic!
