August 1, 2001 (pictures below!)

The two group pictures are from our 4th of July outing... All 3 pictures are courtesy of MICHELLE, my roommate. ;o) Click on the pictures below for the FULL SIZE version if you care to see it.

Today was kind of a slow day... I did some Matlab in the morning, and haven't had much else to do since then. Which is all right, it's such a hot day that my brain isn't quite working anyway. ;o) Since lunch I have been doing various odd tasks and I took some time to play the piano in the !air conditioned! auditorium.

Tonight Mom, Dad, and Kevin took me out to dinner with Winters! We went to the La Senorita mexican restaurant in Petoskey. Afterwards we went out to a park on Traverse Bay and threw around the frisbee and talked a bit and that was it... I was really glad Winters came up to see me because I haven't gotten to see them in a while, plus I can't spend the week with them "camping" in Grayling. I rode back to UMBS with my family in the POURING RAIN -- and now I get to go to sleep with the sound of this rain hitting the roof of my little tin shack... ;o)

I took couple of -in-the-dark- pictures when we were in Petoskey out by Traverse Bay... They're at the bottom of the page...

This is quite possibly the best picture EVER TAKEN at a rawinsonde launching. Check out the expressions on their faces... (Tony, Mike, and Mark (from left))

All the REU students together for the 4th of July... Top row from the left: Brian, Mike, Ed, Cheryl, Mary, Barb. Bottom row from the left: Shawna, Me (laughing hysterically), Michelle. I think we were saying "ISOPRENE!" instead of cheese. Yup, we really are a bunch of dorks. ;o)

We had to scare little kids away that were playing on this big cannon so we could get our picture taken by it. It wasn't very hard. ;o) From the left: Ed, Me, Barb, Michelle, Shawna, Cheryl, Mary, Brian, Mike.

THE GUYS (Trevor, Kevin, and David) out by the lake after playing frisbee.

Tim, Lynn and David I think were too engrossed watching a water-skier ski in the DARK to smile for this picture. Or, maybe I didn't give them enough warning! ;o) Mom and Dad smiled nicely though.
