Yeah! Today I got to sleep in a little bit. Then I went to breakfast and met others there... and we decided to go to Mackinac Island instead of Tequamenon Falls because the weather was not so great.
We left about 12:30... Got tickets for the 1:15 ferry. It was so slow and cold and rainy and windy!!! It actually wasn't that rainy when we were on the boat. Once we got to the island, we walked around a bit and decided to go to the BUTTERFLY HOUSE! :o) It took a little while to find it.... and once we did, it cost $5 to get in! We got cool stickers with it though so it was ok. The butterfly house itself was also very cool! They had pupas there hatching and butterflies coming out. That was weird! Wiggling and stuff... In the greehouse there was lots of flowering plants and LOTS of butterflies. It was quite warm and humid -- most of the butterflies had come from South America or Asia, from the tropical parts I am guessing. They were flying everywhere and landing everywhere, even on people and stuff... it was so awesome! I took a lot of pictures there....
When we got out of the butterfly house, it was RAINING. Everyone put their rain gear on and we just wandered around for quite a while. We saw Arch Rock and parts of the Fort on the island... it cost $8 to go into the Fort, and like heck we were going to pay that! We just took our own little walking tour of the Island.
After sampling the fudge at about 15 different fudge shops, we went to an ice cream place and got ice cream. Actually, only Shawna and Michelle got ice cream, Barb and I just mooched off of them. ;o) They needed help anyway. From the ice cream shop we tried to converse with a carriage driver out in the street but that didn't go too well. I think he thought we were making fun of him! Poor guy... It was quite hilarious though...
We left the island about 4:30 and took the CATAMARAN back! That thing was 3 times as fast as the other boat... and we got to sit INSIDE without the wind and the rain and the coldness! ;o)
We got back to camp just in time for dinner... and here I am! I took lots of pictures today, but they were on a REAL camera! I still have pictures left, so I won't be posting them soon... ;o) sorry!
