God’s Trademark
A little girl prays to God, I easily do scare
It’s very dark, my hand I can’t even see
Through the window I can feel something stare
I just know they’re out to get me, they lurk patiently.
I hear all kinds of noises, It’s like they’re mov’n ‘round
The wind is blowing hard, and I see their shadows on the wall
They know that they can scare me, my weakness they have found
They seem so very big, and God you know I am very small
God, I know you told me that you would never leave
But I can’t see you on my wall and there’s no evidence you’re here
I’m pulling the blankets over my head, my heart is starting to grieve
I’m frightened and I’m shaking, just let me know you’re near
She catches sight of her little cross that glows in the dark
She sleepingly closes her eyes for she knows she has seen God’s trademark.

The Butterfly
The air is warm, the breeze is cool,
As I gaze over the freshly cut grass.
I see them by the hundreds each one a precious jewel,
Each so beautiful, I pray the moment won’t pass.
I focus on one as it flutters by my nose.
It’s wings are gold with a lining of black.
It gracefully lands on a bright red rose.
It’s tongue licks the nectar from the pollen sac.
It flutters from rose to rose to get it’s feed,
But as the days go by it suddenly grows weak.
This beautiful creature for it’s life does plead,
For bright colours and sweet smells, it no longer will seek.
Joyful bliss and mirth has lost all appeal,
For now it knows, God, it’s fate did seal.
