Casual friendships come and go,
much as the currents ebb and flow.
The swells and ripples that they make,
leave mixed emotions in their wake.

For some friends drift away with the changing tide.
They come on strong and then they subside.
Only to crash upon the shore,
disappears and be seen no more.

Others are strong enough to stand
the changing tides and shifting sands.
And what sets these friendships apart!
Affinity of the mind and the heart.

Much more than just a token,
Thoughts understood yet unspoken
A common bond a mutual goal,
an understanding heart and soul.

A hand out stretched in time of need,
A thoughtful and a true friend in deed.
Those little things that mean so much,
Are the strokes of friendships touch.

And when I feel lonely and blue,
all I have to do is turn around and think of you.
