NANAIMO BARS

1 st Layer

1/2 cup margerine
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg (beaten)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup dessicated coconut
2 cups Graham wafer crumbs

Stir margerine, sugar, and cocoa over low heat until smooth. Add beaten egg and vanilla then remove from heat immediately. Stir in 2 cups Graham wafer crumbs, 1 cup dessicated coconut, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. Spread in a buttered 9 X 9 pan and chill.

2 nd Layer

1/4 cup margerine
2 cups icing sugar
2 tablespoons custard powder
2 Tablespoons hot water

Beat together and spread over first layer. (Rechill)

3 rd Layer

1 tablespoon margerine
2 oz (2 squares) unsweetened chocolate melt together slowly. Spread over 2 nd layer with spatula evenly. Chill and cut into 2 x1 bars.
