This man, Dale Earnhardt, Sr., was the greatest man ever to sit behind the wheel of a race car; he was the force that made NASCAR what it is today-the most popular sport in the United States of America. But of course, I'm partial! But no one can be partial saying that Dale was the man who could "see the air" as he made his way around a racetrack. He may not have always qualified up front, but you can bet that he'd always be a force to be reckoned with by race's end! Dale may be gone, but he will always live on in my heart and in the hearts of his millions of still-dedicated fans. The Man in Black lives on forever!

P.S. Dale Sr. is probably spinning in his grave to see what NASCAR has become in the years that he's been gone-many loyal fans have been lost, and not enough casual fans have been generated to replace them. Watching a race just isn't the same. In 2008, NASCAR is trying to woo back some of its lost base, but IMO, that's just not going to happen. A lot of us feel like we've been stabbed in the back. And with gas prices going through the roof, many people just plain can't make it to races that they used to loyally follow. RIP Dale Sr. and the old, classic NASCAR. You will be missed.
