The Otaku Syndrome
The Otaku Syndrome-
A syndrome characterized by a severe obsession with Anime.
Cause: Unknown
Symptoms:
Stage 1- Moderate to excessive Anime viewing.
Stage 2- Loss of interest in all things not anime.
Anime characters may appear in patient's dreams.
Feelings of attraction to characters may also develop in this stage.
Stage 3- When patient reaches this stage, patient developes explicit sexual fanatasies involving
one or more anime characters.
Stage 4- In this stage, the patient becomes delusional.
Patient may insist that they themselves and those around them are anime characters.
Complete Catatonia may occur. In addition to pyschological effects, Otaku Syndrome can
have physiological effects as well (see: illustration below).
Prognosis: Unfavorable. 90% of those afflicted never recover. Usually not fatal (see:Williams vs Funnymation).
Treat: Reality Therapy ("A pyschiatric treatment based on the concept that some patients deny the reality of the world around them." **)
