The first shot shows a youthful Alex leading his Tank Company into Battle. The message is believed to have been hand written by Alex himself and is an encouraging message of goodwill to all his soldier Buddies!
The picture is rather faded by time, but still the heroic defiance can be seen in the Leader’s pose!
Promotion wasn’t far off for Alex, and his exploits were soon recognised as the next picture attests. It shows Alex receiving the Medal for Uncompromising Bravery in the Face of Battle.
A very bad photographer took this shot, hence the blurred appearance of our Leader, Alex. But our experts are certain this monumentous occurrence did happen! This medal was not the only one awarded to Alex, look at his uniform to see all the other medals that he had won in other actions!
Here in this picture, we see Alex helping the wounded comrades of his Company, again this picture bears a goodwill message to all his chums in the Forces!
In an extract from Alex’s actual war diary we can reveal how Alex felt about the war he was fighting for Dorkshire:
May 17th, This war is hell, but in hell there is good, I feel good about fighting for a cause in which I believe. Dorkshire is my gateway out of this hell, if I survive this conflict I shall be in a position to exert power over others. The lads are all with me when I speak of my true cause, they all want to be part of what is to come, they all want to be Dorks. If my brave boys want to follow me to the bitter end of this war then I shall lead them, we will fight, and we will win.
November 1st, I feel that we have gained an advantage over our opponents, this is what I must do for the Dorks everywhere, as our powerful armies have gained victory, I too must gain victory. If only I could find someone with a similar vision as me, the lads are alright but they lack the brainpower to lead, I need someone with whom I can continue the struggle for freedom!”
Of course these extracts where written long before Alex had ever met Graham, but the need to fight for Dorks can be seen in the following picture:
The grim look on Alex’s face tells of the seriousness of the problems he encountered during the war. Whilst all around him are jovial, Alex is thoughtful and decisive.
The following pictures show Alex in different areas of combat during the war:
The image above shows the multitalented leader working as an artillery observer during the opening years of the war.
This interesting image shows our leader operating a Heavy Machine Gun, something he was taught to do in Primary School. This is a very rare picture of the Leader and only came to light a few years ago, Alex had mentioned the HMG in his diary but until now, no-one had seen the Leader with one!
This shot has our Leader sat in is first Tank which he commanded! This Tank can still be seen in the Eastwood Museum of the Leadership.
These two pictures show the Leader conferring with the Generals after receiving a promotion and always eager to get onto the field of battle, Alex seeing that his orders are carried out, even in the bitter winter!
More extracts from Alex's War diary:
Date Unknown: The Lads have been like a rock against which my tide can crash, They are the rocks of ages, I am the tide that grinds that rock. My leadership has gotten the boys trhough some of the worst trouble mankind has ever seen. My boys will follow me off a cliff if nesscersary.
