The Fire Visualization

The Fire consciousness is usefully invoked at any time where we must be grounded through pain, or even stressful situations.

You should begin this visualization by being sure that you're warm when you do it. You can sit out in the sun, near a fireplace, or even a heater if that is the only source of heat that you have available to you. Some people choose to wrap a blanket or coat around themselves as well as sitting near a heat source, to make the warmth even easier to visualize. You might want to try this. Be sure to find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed and a time where you won't be rushed. If, at anytime, you become uncomfortable or overly stressed by whatever it is you choose to visualize, especially during a guided one like this one, then change the visualization.

Fire is the essence of sex and passion. It is not only the "sacred fire" of sex, but also the spark of divinity which shines within us and in all living things. For this reason, Fire is at once the most physical and spiritual of the elements.

Fire is the most primal of the elements as well, the element of will, passion, change, and intensity; the essence of all forms of magick, since magick is the process of change, itself. It is the desire and will to manifest the idea, the driving life force, the principle of transformation.

Fire magick involves many things, among them energy, authority, sex, passion, healing, destruction (of negative habits, disease), and purification. Summer, noon, freedom, change, sight, perception, vision, illumination, love, learning, will. Candle magick is ruled by fire. Here are some correspondents.

Quarter: South
Quarter Candle: Red
Chakra Candle: Yellow
Chakra: Solar Plexus
Idea: Will
Visualization: Bright Red Triangle

Now close your eyes and concentrate on the heat emanating from the source you have chosen. Extend your hands and allow the warmth to permeate them. (You may lower them anytime you wish once you associate yourself with the warmth.) Imagine a crackling fire and hear it crackle and pop or imagine the rays from the sun beating down upon you and that you can feel each and every ray. Feel your blood pounding. Now inhale the warmth into your body. Inhale red, gold, orange, and yellow. Inhale the colors from the sun's rays or inhale these colors from the flames.

Feel these colors in your blood growing warmer, hotter. The warmth is now traveling along your respiratory system and spreading out into other parts of your body. It flows into each artery and vein, into your muscles and tendons, and as it does, feel that warmth inside yourself. You stretch your fingers out towards the sun or fire and feel the tingling nerves as more flames from either source jumps into your fingerstips, flowing along each arm and down into your solar plexus, going again through arteries, veins, nerve endings, into your lower extremities all the way down into your toes. Visualize this as clearly and intensely as possible.

Now reach for the flames. (In your imagination only please. Do not burn yourself if you are using a real flame.) Become one with them. You are warm and then becoming even warmer. Now hot but not uncomfortable because YOU are now the Fire. Your body tingles with the heat, like a hot shower after a cool swim, and you breathe through it, in and out, in and out, until the heat soothes and calms you. The colors begin to flash and change: Red. Orange. Gold. Violet. White. Blue. The heat is so intense it actually begins to cool you. This is the heat of wintergreen, of menthol and peppermint, and it is so pure that it almost resembles snow. Now stick out your tongue and taste it. Does it taste hot or cold? Whatever you decide here is fine. Swallow and feel the heat flowing down your throat and on into your stomach, making you feel warm and happy. Imagine the flames inside your body, traveling and flowing and undulating all through you. Imagine it surrounding your heart and flowing through the center of your body...into the very soul of you.

As you see this, you know that you have become the fire and it has become you. Now sit awhile and just concentrate on what a good warm feeling fire can be, on how great you feel. You should learn to associate fire with being warm, calm, and happy. When you feel completely relaxed, slowly begin to send the flames back to the heat source bit by bit. Let them pour out of your body, unwinding from inside you, coming out through your fingertips as you extend your hands once more. Put the fire back where it came from, and then take a few calming breathes. Ground yourself briefly and open your eyes. All done now.
