Grimoire Rituals and Spells

The Ritual & Closing the Circle

Now for the actual ritual of which there are too many to name. Soon you shall be able to do your own if that is what you wish.

The reason for the ritual should be declared. The Statement of Purpose or Endeavors needs to be made, spoken aloud if possible or written down. (Note: If possible) This could come in the form of guided meditation, a prayer, chant, or a simply declaration. It should fit into the actual working of the spell or ritual, the start of which will be any manual or visualization tasks.

Manual tasks, being those such as preparing the items needed for the ritual and passing out necessary things like candles, pencils, paper, etc., that the group will need is always done first. Visualization, which comes next, is where you visualize what you desire coming true. You do this during the context of the ritual.

Now is the time to raise energy. This may be done in a variety of ways. It is often done through music, clapping, drumming, chanting, or dance. These are the best known ways to raise the "Cone of Power." However, there are other methods, and the challenge in writing the ritual is finding the one that will raise the most energy. Be sure to keep sight of the participants, and make this an endeavor for the entire group if indeed it is a group effort. One form of raising energy consists of participants sitting in a circle and weaving long strands of rope together while chanting. It falls upon the High Priestess and/or the High Priest to call the focus and direct the energy towards it's true purpose.

After this has been done, the cakes and ale are generally consecrated and dedicated. The HPS consecrates the ale and the HP consecrates the cakes. Depending on the reason for the ritual, a symbolic Great Rite may follow consecration of the cakes and ale, which are then shared in a ritualistic fashion by all present.

According to what has been accomplished in the Circle so far, some may call an "intermission" at this point in order to prepare for other more personal work to follow. It’s also a good time for guided meditations or teaching. This is where you do your major spellwork or magick.

After all work is accomplished, the Quarters are dismissed in the appropriate manner, and the Lord and Lady are thanked for their attendance and assistance. This is called "Closing the Circle".

Leader: We met this day/night in love and peace, and our rite was blessed by the light of all within this circle. May the goodness, energy and light within be reflected in our lives without. Blessed be the Lord and Lady, in all the ways they were reflected tonight, as hope, as promise, as healing and as the sacred mother and father to whom we owe our existence. East: From the East we were granted air, and the first rays of the sun, from the east came light, and from there is shall return. (snuff candle) South: Holy fire from the south cleansed and tempered us, to there let the fires return.(snuff) West: Water that is life, brought from the west to nurture, cleanse and uplift, to the west return(snuff) North: Earth, from which we came, housed in the North, to the North return (snuff)

Leader: Lord and Lady, sacred parents, sacred lovers, sacred children, may your light grow ever stronger, lifted into the heavens as moon and sun, and reflected in the eyes of all who can gaze skyward with the light of the Law upon and within them. (candles snuffed) Now is our rite complete, May the circle be open, but ever unbroken!

The HPS will often give a blessing at this point to close out the ritual.

AS ABOVE AND AS BELOW,
AS THE UNIVERSE, SO THE SOUL
IN ALL THY INFINITE WISDOM,
WE THANK THEE, OH GOD/DESS, FOR THEY PROTECTION
AND IN THAT PROTECTION,STRENGTH
AND IN THAT STRENGTH, UNDERSTANDING
AND IN THAT UNDERSTANDING,KNOWLEDGE
AND IN THAT KNOWLEDGE, JUSTICE
AND IN THAT JUSTICE, LOVE
AND IN THAT LOVE, LIGHT
AND IN THAT LIGHT, THE LOVE OF ALL THAT EXISTS
THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT IS THE GODDESS.
From there the HP leads the group in grounding any leftover energy. Feasting is the main form of most after-ritual functions. This is the time to finish personal grounding, and eating is one of the best ways of grounding excess energy.

The last part of the celebration is just as important as any other aspect, and that involves clean up. Ritual tools and materials should be put back in their places. The whole group helps clean up the mess before anyone leaves for their respective homes.
