Some practitioners use the seperate sets in this way. They see each set as belonging to one of the elements of earth, fire, air, or water, & thus the correlations are made a bit clearer. See below to get a better idea of what I am saying. For example:
Pentacles are Earth
which stands for financial affairs and owning property or things.
Cups are
Water which stands for love and friendship.
Swords are Air which stands for intelligence and thinking.
Wands are Fire which stands for working or doing things.
In all of the different decks, the court cards are labeled as well as the Ace card. The cards 2 through 10 are labeled with roman numerals. If you aren't exactly sure of the numeral, just count the wands, cups, swords, or pentacles in the picture on the card. This applies to all four suits, of course. Some decks may exchange the page for a princess and the knight may become a queen. One such deck that changes the card designation is the Crowley-Thoth deck which is read better by following simple intuition rather than deciphering through tables such as the one's I've provided. |
