Today is your birthday Mum
It’s a day when I shed those silent tears
For the memories are always in my mind
Of what we shared, over those few precious years
 
I know you’re not right here with me, Mum
Though you’re always in my heart
And I know you look down from where you are
For I feel the love that you sent from the start
 
For I always knew you loved me
Even when I did things wrong
You would still reach out to hold me
From you, I learnt to be strong
 
I have needed that strength you taught me
To help me over times that were bad
From things that have happened in my life
And the moments when I have felt so very sad
 
Did I remember to tell you
How much I loved you in my heart
Were the words of anger forgotten
At that moment when we had to part
 
There are many things I wish I had said
I wish I had told you I loved you, every day
Then I would not have this pain in my heart
From words I did not think to say
 
For I did not think that you would leave so soon
I thought we had time to do those special things
But instead your angels came for you
And now "you" wear those special wings
 
So I sit here with tears on my cheeks
And I send this love to you today
"I love you Mum" are the words from my heart
For it’s here, in my heart, that you will always stay.
