How do we stop love
From touching our tender hearts
How do we halt the emotions
That each has felt from the start
 
How do we separate
What we feel, from what is real
How do we stop our hearts from feeling
The emotions that they already feel
 
I will look at things with an open mind
Try not to let my emotions rule my heart
Knowing that the distance between us
Is the thing that keeps us so far apart
 
Dare I wonder or even dream a little
Of how things might one day be
If we could close the miles between us
If we were no longer separated by time and sea
 
But I said that I would not dream that dream
So I will live this life, day by day
Letting my heart be filled with loving thoughts
And it’s with those thoughts that I now say
