Pacific Coast Directory 1867 lists Thomas Maguire as living in North San Juan, Nevada Co, CA and selling clothing, boots and shoes.

Found death notice in San Francisco Call Sept 15 1887 pg 8: In this city Sept 14, Thomas Maguire, a native of Ireland aged 76 years. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend the funeral Tomorrow (Friday) at 11 o'clock am from his late residence 421 Hyde St. Interment private. No flowers.

3. Robert MAGUIRE

According to Biographical and portrait cyclopedia of Cumberland,York and Adams Co PA,p 451, Of scotch-irish distraction and born in county Limerick near Sligo,Ireland. Reared on a farm and came to America at the age of 21 in the year 1833. Spent a brief time in Norristown and then for several years traveled through the US working at different kinds of labor in 1842 he located on a farm near Duncannon, where he remained most of his life. His first wife was Mary Jane Elliot of Perry county.
By her he had 2 children, all of whom are dead. (The Scotch Irish (purely an American term) were from Northern Ireland and are properly called Ulster Scots) BIRTH: Per family Bible

Ran away at 14 and lived in Philadelphia most of her life, according to Herbert R. Maguire (Robert's grandson by George Maguire) Noone approved of her, but tolerated her for her wealth. Married Mr Hellen. According to Herbert, she is illegetimate.

Committed suicide in her home.

Margaret Reeser says he was a very decent and kind man. When she was a child, she remembers her "Uncle Frank" walking out to visit once a week and giving her mother $3 for food, which at that time was a large sum of money.
