Why budget? Well it is a plain-jane US spec, 1982 320i, nothing special. Still it is rust free, and will make a fantastic weekend racer. An S14 engine swap is very tempting, as are coil overs and lexan windows, but lets get real, it's an E21, there is fun to be had but lets not get crazy with thoughts of running down new 911s and M3s. Sure you can make an E21 "that fast", but you could make an E36 (which are dropping in value everyday) "that fast" much cheaper.
I have had the car for 7 years, it has sat for much of the past 3. I did do a few modifications years back when it was my daily driver. So I was starting with:
- 1982 320i RUST FREE!, 180k miles
- Stahl header with straight pipe into supertrapp
- 13x6 BBS Basket weaves with 205/60/13 Yokohama 509s
- Metric mechanics shift kit
- Momo competition shift knob (good for 5hp... really!)
- 1977 320i or 323 front brake upgrade
- Stainless Steel brake lines
- Aluminum front stress bar
Not a bad car to start with, I already have it, I know the history, and hey it is mildly tricked out already!
The exterior is in very good shape, the paint is not faded and the only real flaw is the black eye it recieved from the bumper of a T-bird.
As I complete each little project on the car I will activate the link. Some pages, such as the suspension, will be more extensive than others. Happy reading!
