The Task

An Historical Context Committee has been established by the American Literature Foundation.  Their task is to select pictures and documents that best represent the characters and culture portrayed in the play, Fences, written by August Wilson.  You, August Wilson, have agreed to assist these select members of this distinguished committee.  Therefore, you must search, evaluate, and identify the selections to be included in the committee's recommendation to the American Literature Foundation. You must defend your choices in an explanatory essay and, with the committee chairperson, present the final selections you have agreed upon to the American Literature Foundation.
