The MP5 tends to be the gun of choice for players who are low on cash, costing less than half of most of the nice rifles. It is a sub-machine gun, with a 30-round clip of 9mm ammo, and can have 120 rounds in reserve. It is relatively accurate, and even more so when fired in short bursts, which is good because it can take quite a few shots to kill. A good choice if you want a gun, but can't afford a rifle. The terrorists cannot but this gun on assassination maps.
