Diablo is a highly addictive game published by Blizzard Entertainment in 1998. It's very easy to learn. Use the mouse and keyboard to control the actions of a hero. Click to move, click to attack, click to pick things up, click to talk to people, click and drag to buy and sell things. You gain points and levels for defeating monsters on the way to the eventual goal of defeating Diablo.
The sequel, Diablo II and its Expansion Set, Lord Of Destruction was released in 2001. There are some small changes in gameplay: for instance, you can run OR walk; there are dungeons as well as above ground areas to explore; and there is much more territory to cover. But most importantly, it just as addictive as the original.
There are 5 classes to choose from in Diablo II: Amazon, Necromancer, Barbarian, Paladin, Sorceress. The Lord Of Destruction Expansion Set (LOD) has 2 additional classes: Assassin and Druid.
Each class has their own Skill Tree so you may choose to focus on a branch of Skills or all of them.
Druid - summoning skills; Sorceress - fire, lightning, cold skills |
Treasure Items are found throughout the game in chests, hidden stashes or dropped by monsters. Some items are class-specific. Items may be Normal, Magical, Rare, Unique, Crafted, or part of a Set. Any Item type may have Sockets. You can impart additional qualities to Items by placing Gems, Jewels or Runes into these sockets. If you place Runes in a particular order called RuneWords, the Item gains additional bonus qualities.

Crafted (orange); Set (green), Socketed - empty and 'gemmed' (grey); RuneWord |
This magical cube can transmute items if you have the correct recipe. Gems, common runes, jewels, charms, potions, rings, amulets, weapons and armor can be changed into other items with known or random effects.
