Proof of Life

“They hurt his [Joseph] feet with fetters, he was laid in irons, until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him [proved him true].” (Psalms 105:18-19)

God spoke to Joseph as a 17 year old through a vision regarding his bright future. Although Joseph could not understand its complete meaning at the time, he knew it had great significance for he knew God had a great destiny for his life. However, the proving out of that word from God was filled with 13 years of betrayal, rejection, pain, sorrow, and no doubt, questioning God’s faithfulness.

Joseph’s life was all but a life of influence and impact as a slave and prisoner. He must have wondered whether that dream was simply some too-good-to-be-true imagination. David must have felt the same when he was anointed king of Israel as a young man only to spend years of fleeing from King Saul hiding in caves with his Band of Brothers like Osama. Interestingly, God’s preparation for greatness in His Kingdom is often filled with difficulty and hardship. God is more concerned about developing the spiritual life of his servant, which can only be prepared by removing self-confidence and replacing it with God-confidence. God-confidence is only developed in the furnace of affliction of life.

Is God proving His word true in your life? You will not find any Proof of Life from Russell Crowe or Meg Ryan. Proof of Life can only be found by searching the Word of God for the promises concerning your life, and then waiting patiently for God to prove it true. God is using circumstances, people and events to move you into a place of waiting as He puts you in the place He desires for you. This is the place where the salvation of your soul mature. Let God prove your faith and let Him do it now.
