World Cup“This cup is the new covenant [ratified] in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” (1 Corinthians 11:25) Many of us are struggling to believe the promises of God instead of taking a Romans Holiday and being like the patriarch Abraham – fully convinced that what God had promised, He was able to perform. (Romans 4:21). Abraham had confidence because knew that entering into the Covenant of Blood meant you were totally giving yourself away to someone else, and nothing would ever be exclusively yours again. All that you were, all that you had or ever would have became the equal property of your covenant partner. In the covenant ceremony, the partners exchanged coats, each one giving their authority to the other. They exchanged weapons saying, “Your enemies are my enemies and I'll fight with you.” They walked through the blood of animals, pronouncing their loyalty to each other, even to death. When God cut covenant with Abraham, he knew long before Gwen Stefani there was No Doubt for God had given him ALL He had and bound Himself in a special relationship that could not be dissolved. Abraham understood the covenant agreement, and it convinced him that God’s promises could be trusted and became an anchor to his soul. If you want to be a faith giant like Abraham then you need to dig into the World Cup of the New Covenant you have with God, and may your Cup runneth over. Open your Bible and let the Holy Spirit teach you what happened when Jesus became the sacrifice on the cross that ratified your New Covenant with God with His precious Blood, not the blood of animals in the old covenant. Besides His Blood, Jesus gave you His Name (John 16:23), authority (Matthew 28:18-20), armor and weapons (Ephesians 6:10-17). The World Cup is not just about soccer, riots, colorful faces and crazy fans. The World Cup is salvation for the world and what Jesus meant when He said, “This cup is the New Covenant [established] in My blood.” Once you understand the gravity of the New Covenant and its better promises than the old, your life without Emeril will get kicked up another notch and you’ll never be the same again.
