The Apostle

“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus.” (Hebrews 3:1)

Not too many believers understand the apostleship and high priesthood of Jesus. They may think The Apostle is based on a movie by Robert Duvall or some kind of supersaint. But the English word apostle is derived from the Greek word apostello which means the one who is sent. Jesus has been sent from God to serve as our High Priest. A high priest is not just a person walking around in strange clothes performing religious rituals. He is one who is authorized to administer, to execute, to implement and to put into effect. What it is that Jesus is authorized to administer, execute, or carry out on your behalf? Hebrews 3:1 says that Jesus is the High Priest of our confession, He’s been sent to execute, to perform the words that you SAY.

If you have been speaking what you feel, instead of speaking words of faith based on the Word of God, then Jesus is powerless to do what you say. If you’re speaking sickness or poverty, Jesus cannot do a thing for He’s not High Priest over sickness or poverty. The Bible says in Joel 3:10 , “Let the weak say, I am strong.” When you say that, Jesus can administer God’s mighty power and make you stronger than you’ve ever thought possible. Jesus is not going to administer sickness, disease, oppression, poverty or sin because He’s defeated all that at the cross. He is High Priest over wholeness, salvation, righteousness, healing and prosperity. As you come before Jesus, don’t speak words of defeat. Speak words He can implement, words of blessing and words of victory for He has been ordained by God as The Apostle and High Priest of your confession. And unlike GE, He really brings good things to life.
