Wisdom“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5) When you’re facing a problem, the first thing you should ask God for is wisdom, and tons of it. Not conventional wisdom, not wisdom from some wiseguys, not money, power, nor access. Not Wisdom from that 1986 movie with Emilio Estevez and Demi Moore. But wisdom from the Word of God for God’s wisdom is the key that will unlock the mysteries of life. It will turn your failure into success. Stop wasting time asking God for things you think you need and spend quality time instead listening to what He has to say. The wisdom of God is simply the Word of God. If you’ve never received
the God kind of wisdom, you need to lay out the problem before God,
not because He doesn’t know what you’re going through, but because laying
it out helps you to see things from a more objective point of view.
Secondly, listen for the Holy While listening, be teachable and ready to accept rebuke. Be aware of The Importance of Being Ernest, especially with God. Look for ways in which you’ve been wrong and confess them. Those sins won’t come as any surprise to God for He already knows about them. True Confession just gives you the opportunity to lighten your burden. Lastly, act on the wisdom God gives you. Let go of your ways and put God’s ways into operation. Be obedient even when it hurts. If you don’t, that wonderful wisdom of God won’t do you any good. As you pray, set aside your own thoughts and start seeking the wisdom of God.
