For Your Eyes Only“And these words, which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” (Deuteronomy 6:6 and 8) The Word of God is so powerful that when I realized what it could do, I literally immersed myself in it. I turned off the music, the phone and spent nearly every waking moment either reading the Word, watching the Word preached on TV, listening to tapes on the Word, or thinking what to write about the Word. Years spent in the Word eventually had a powerful effect and it began to increase my spiritual gifts and the anointing on the ministry. You may not have a 40 year franchise like James Bond, but God says that the Word is For Your Eyes Only. Many believers start devoting themselves to the Word, but they expect instant, microwave results, and when they don’t see them, they get disappointed. They failed to be patient and give the Word time to sink in. The truth of the matter is, you cannot get a drivethrough breakthrough! Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” The Word of God feeds the spirit to save the soul just as food feeds the body, where the vitamins and nutrients have a cumulative effect. And just like food, the Word of God has a cumulative effect on the salvation of the soul and the empowering of the spirit. God may act instantly and perform miracles, but only to get things back on track. What He really intends is for us to feed daily on His Word so we can grow in strength and in faith, so that we can bear fruit, much fruit, in due season. Copyright © 2002 Eddy Ministries.
