Kingdom Come

“The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how.” (Mark 4:26)

Kingdom Come is not just a movie about a dysfunctional family with LL Cool J, Jada Pinkett and Vivica A. Fox. Nor is Kingdom Come just a line from the Lord’s Prayer, thy kingdom come, that we utter without knowing what it really means. Jesus compared the kingdom of God with seedtime and harvest, with the sowing of seed and the reaping of the harvest. This happens in the natural all the time with farmers and gardeners. Many of us, however, are not producing bumper crops because we’re sitting around until Kingdom Come waiting for God to do all the work. God, the Lord of the Harvest, will work with you, but you’ll have to do your part to usher in the coming of the kingdom as there are things you must do by faith if you want to reap at harvest time.

First, you must sow the seed of the Word in faith, expecting it to grow. You must find promises from God in His Word, sow them in your heart and in your life. Then you must water the seed every day with praise. Water it with the spiritual water of the Word for the Word of God contains life and those seed promises can’t grow without it. And last but not least, you’ll have to keep the weeds out. When the weeds of fear, unforgiveness, doubt, and depression grow, remove them right away lest they’ll choke the Word. Don’t sit on your pity pot waiting for God to produce your harvest. Start sowing and start watching over your your heart and mind to keep it moist, watered daily with the Word by these emails, teaching tapes, books or magazines on the Word, sermons on TV or Bible reading, and pull out all the weeds the devil may want to sow to corrupt your crop. Faithfully do your part, trust God to do His and you will have a nice harvest, and your Kingdom Come.
